I'm honestly almost in tears, this is the first time I have sat down since 7am and my head is splitting.

Asked the DDs (7,6 and 3) what they wanted to do today, a picnic in the park, no they wanted the pool out I though ok this is our week of summer well get the pool out (it's been out a few days already) went to asda this morning bought ice lollies, cones, donuts as a treat, rubber rings for the pool, cand hone started to blow the thing up inbetween housework.

Filled the pool with cold turned tap off went to make lunch, the next thing the pool is overflowing, a fairy must have turned the tap back on! Had to take the excess out by hand with a bucket, next to put warm water in to take the chill off, 15 buckets and kettles of water later all carried out by hand it's ready, DDs go in fight and scream at each other, 2 yo DS is making muddy puddles and being a 2yo, now they are out saying its too cold.

My day has just been a string of one job after the other like the last few I'm so fed up. They just don't bloody listen I catch DD2 doing done thing a 2 yo would do, they bicker constantly and it's all mum mum mum.

To make matters worse DP is off running a marathon.

I spent 2 hours filling that fecking pool. I'm snapping at them constantly and feel terrible.

What I wouldn't give for an hour on my own doing nothing.

Put your costume on and get in the pool!
You are a lovely mum for doing all of that.
Oh and eat ice cream :)

scuzy · 27/05/2012 13:44

ah i feel your pain. its the warmest time of the day give them their lollies and turn on dvd. put pool in sun it will warm up in no time. they find it cold cos they are soo hot. and sit down with a drink in the garden for half hour.

scuzy · 27/05/2012 13:45

yes, meant to say you are a lovely mum. relax first and then your kids will enjoy it. good idea get in with them.

Just5minspeace · 27/05/2012 13:51

You have my sympathy... 6,4,2 in this house and equally demanding. However you are a better woman than I. My three got 2 buckets of cold water and the saucepans...kept then amused for a while. The little one even climbed in the bucket.
No's 2 & 3 are now asleep and eldest is drawing- I'm lying in the garden... Oh an DH is/has been watching cricket/sleeping since 11am.
If you are exhausted put a storytape on and get them to make a tent and you can 'supervise' with a cup of tea... Good luck!

Dee03 · 27/05/2012 13:57

I feel your pain but my 3 ds are older....they still do my head in tho with their demands and fighting Sad

thebody · 27/05/2012 14:01

I agree with scuzzy. Put them in the house with a DVD, go into the garden and have a large drink.

Threaten them with bed if anymore fighting as its too fecking hot!!!

BackforGood · 27/05/2012 14:01

This bit next to put warm water in to take the chill off, 15 buckets and kettles of water later all carried out by hand it's ready was your mistake, to be fair. Just cover the bottom with about 3 bucket fulls - 1 from the hot tap and 2 from the cold. Give them said buckets (or better still their own sand or water buckets) if you have an outside tap, and that is their entertainment for the afternoon. I wouldn't expect little ones to sit and play in it for very long - they can enjoy filling it first, then 'watering the garden' with it afterwards.

Rilson · 27/05/2012 14:05

This heat doesnt help when you are tired and have a headache does it.I hate being hot and flustered.

Ours are 9,7 and 4 and I could not be bothered to fill the pool up so its literally had a few buckets of cold water in it(about 1/4 full) and the sun has heated it up a bit.

Hope you manage to get a bit of rest this afternoon.

lazilou · 27/05/2012 14:08

kids respond to what your mood is. therefore if you are constantly on at them, snapping and moaning, they will respond by also moaning, whining, bickering.

anyway you are faffing on t'internet so arent that busy eh :)

JarethTheGoblinKing · 27/05/2012 14:11

Wow, helpful! Confused

picnicbasketcase · 27/05/2012 14:11

The OP just wanted a quick rant, really no need to kick her when she's down.

Agree with Rilson, just fill it up a bit and let the sun heat it. In this weather it doesn't need kettles of boiling of water. Have an ice cream and a sit down.

sweetkitty · 27/05/2012 14:27

Oh don't you just love mumsnet sometimes? You can't come on and have a moan about your children without someone having a go.

Thats the thing though if I put 3 buckets in they would say where's the rest of the water? DS has his own little pool for messing about with/watering the flowers.

They are still at it DD3 whining if a drop of water splashes on her, DD2 whacked DD1 cue hysterics.

And yes that was my first time faffing about on the Internet, I'm on my phone as DS needs constant supervision but there's only so much playing you can do with them.

BackforGood · 27/05/2012 14:48

In 'Chat' you can post and say 'Please can I have a rant / moan / whatever'.
In AIBU, you are asking if YABU - clue is in the title.
Actually, most people have made pretty helpful suggestions.

picnicbasketcase · 27/05/2012 14:53

But it's not unreasonable for anyone to want some peace and quiet is it? People do just post here because it moves so quickly. It's quite alarming the way AIBU is used as an excuse for people to come in and pick pointless fights. I might start one saying 'Am I being unreasonable to want to continue to breathe in and out' and someone would be bound to come along and go 'YABU, fuck off and die in a corner'

sweetkitty · 27/05/2012 14:55

Oh I know I posted to just have a little moan about the crap day I'm having despite everything I try and do. It just makes me laugh in every thread there's always someone ready to tear you apart.

OP posts:
scuzy · 27/05/2012 14:56

oh how padantic!

fill the pool with shower gel bubbles might entertain them get them to splash to make them (also save ye bathing them later lol)

if not threaten them all with no pool or ice cream and hose them down!

OldGreyWiffleTest · 27/05/2012 15:00

This is where my Mum had the upper hand - "if you can't play nicely, BED......NOW" !!!! We soon learned!

scuzy · 27/05/2012 15:01

or lock them all in the en suite with window closed for half an hour they will be screaming to get in the pool then! lol

MarySA · 27/05/2012 15:11

YANBU. When my two were small a hot Sunday wasn't easy. I think just put it down to everybody being irritated in the hot weather. Just had a bit of a row with DH over absolutely nothing.

Either outside and behave or inside with a DVD and behave. If not bed. I know it's not as easy as it sounds . I feel for you.

sweetkitty · 27/05/2012 15:54

Thanks I'm finding it all a bit much just now I'm v stressed and anxious. Thought we'd have a nice day but they have moaned, cried and fought the entire time, I shudder to what the neighbours think lying put in their child free gardens.

willyoustillloveme · 27/05/2012 15:57

A glass of wine might help. I take it the older two will be at school tommorrow so that will be a bit easier? Smile

willyoustillloveme · 27/05/2012 15:59

Can you sit in the shade with a glass of wine and supervise. Smile
