how do those Geisha girls do it ... those weird block sandals with thick socks on and the sandals go between their toes?!?

TheUnMember · 27/05/2012 13:05

Toes socks. Invented by Satan himself.

scuzy · 27/05/2012 13:05

Magneto · 27/05/2012 13:08

Toe socks just leave you with freezing cold toes!

I hate socks, i try and not wear them in the winter, but i have to.
I wear them with boots, shoes, trainers, but they are the 2nd thing i take of ( before my coat ) after my shoes when i get home.

They make me feel claustrophobic, that is why i was still wearing my sandals in november last year Blush and only relented to socks and boots when it started getting icy.

I was born on the south coast, and have very thick skin, run hot and barely feel the cold, if i could walk barefoot without risking my foot health then i would.

I spotted a woman wearing fake uggs yesterday. Fake uggs with a long skirt. Confused

scuzy · 27/05/2012 13:57

oh god can you imagine the smell off her uggs!!

tho another thing no socks do is expose the most unsightly toes!! ha ha there is no pleasing me.

OP posts:
LadySybildeChocolate · 27/05/2012 13:59

Real uggs are designed to be worn in the summer, apparently. These were fake ones though so would honk!

MrsRhettButler · 27/05/2012 14:49

Not really tethers? Please tell me that was a joke!

Fwiw I'm with you op YANBU and agree that if you're getting blisters you have bad sandals.

Those frilly white socks are the ONLY exception and ONLY on girls 2 or under (possibly 3)

scuzy · 27/05/2012 14:51

ah MrsRhett woman after me own heart.

picnicbasketcase · 27/05/2012 14:56

I don't get it. You wear sandals because it's hot and you want some air to get to your feet, so why would anyone wear socks with them? If you want socks on, it's clearly not sandally weather.

scuzy · 27/05/2012 14:58

if you want socks on also then your sandals are not comfortable. there are so many lovely looking flip flops but would cut you to pieces invest in one good pair that will survive a couple years of summers (about 4 weeks in total lol)

MarquiseOfMelburnia · 27/05/2012 15:01

Sorry but does pairing one with the other not just completely defeat the purpose? Just wear a pair of blimmin slippers if it's that 'light yet comfortable' feeling you're after!

cocoachannel · 27/05/2012 15:05

Some of the feet on display on the tube home on Friday night were so disturbing that I think sandals with socks would have been much better!

They are also preferable to men in flip flops, which for men should only be worn on the beach/pool/own back garden unless they have very nice feet indeed.

BarefootShirl · 27/05/2012 15:29

I'm with OTTMumma - hate wearing socks at any time as I don't like my feet to feel enclosed. Definitely don't get socks with sandals - surely one is defeating the purpose of the other?

Also don't get the teenage girl in town this morning wearing shorts, crop top and socks without shoes Confused.

Marymaryalittlecontrary · 27/05/2012 16:20

I will never put a (young) child of my own in open toed sandals and no socks. When I worked in a nursery we spent one summer going on all sorts of trips, which were only spoiled slightly by a whiny 3 year old (not always the same one) stopping every 2 minutes and announcing 'I've got a stone in my shoe!' If/when I have my own kids they will always have closed in shoes in the summer ! (At least until they're old enough to sort out their own stone in shoes dramas!)

scuzy · 27/05/2012 16:31

only sandals i buy for ds have the font part covered always conscious of tripping up when running.

McHappyPants2012 · 27/05/2012 16:56

Love to find a nice pair of sandals, I have bought many but always leaves blisters my feet are 5.5 uk shoe size so it's no easy task

american78 · 27/05/2012 19:16

Think sandals with socks ok for children for 1st couple of wears. That's what the shoe shop recommended anyway.
