to think I might be pregnant since DH had a vasectomy (cauterisation) 8 years ago?

Sadly I think it is far more likely to be perimenopause... but I think I prefer the alternative. I am 37.Hmm

Nah! My mum always said to me there's not point trying to plan a baby for a time that's convenient; one day you'll just desperately want a baby and nothing you do to convince yourself it's not the right time or circumstance will work.

I don't know whether she's right, but I do know I got a very sudden urge to have another child that I haven't been able to get rid of even at times where I've wondered whether I should be focusing on other things as priority before we expand the family.

Don't worry about missing my post, I'm the worst for it Grin Someone will address me on a thread and I won't even notice until 4 or 5 pages have filled up, and then suddenly I'll reply at a really inappropriate time when the thread has been completely derailed or gone in a different direction.

80sbabe · 26/05/2012 00:20

It didn't feel wonderful when we found out - our youngest was 7, I'd gone back to work, we had given away or sold all our baby equipment, DH is a much older dad and was thinking about retirement - it really rocked us at the time.
However there was no question that we wouldn't keep her and she is just adorable, but more than a little spoilt by her older siblings Grin

TheHouseOnTheCorner · 26/05/2012 00:25

GAh you're only 37! I'm nearly 40 and will be most affronted if peri noodle thingy comes to me before I am at least 45! I had my 2nd easily at 37 so you are not silly.

ProdigalMNer · 26/05/2012 00:30

Well, something's amiss Babylann 'cos I've been setting extra places at the table on and off for the past couple of months... perhaps it's the world's way of telling me there's something in the offing, or perhaps I am just barking mad ( most likely scenario.. Grin

I think your Mum is right, whilst I got very upset when DH had his vasectomy the thought of him having it after DC3 was too horrific for me, he had the appointment booked but I just felt I needed one more to complete the family. I have so much sympathy for those who TTC even for one without success, I can't imagine anything more heart breaking.

I hope your wish for DC3 comes true very soon!

Grin80sbabe, I can understand that completely. Our youngest is 9 and very much the baby of the family and although our other DC have proclaimed many times they'd love me to have another, DC4 would feel quite differently I suspect. Workwise it would also be very interesting. I think that half the reason I'm allowing rose-tinted thoughts atm is because I know I'm probably kidding myself, I'll let you know what happens if I actually do turn out to be PG, I suspect the roller coaster of emotions would be quite something!!

ProdigalMNer · 26/05/2012 00:32

THOC... that was what was making me so miserable until I dared to consider the possibility i a failed vasectomy...research hasn't helped, some people say that sore breasts are not a sign of the peri noodle thingy Grin Grin and others say they most definitely are.

I am not old enough am I???

OP posts:
TheHouseOnTheCorner · 26/05/2012 00:37

You're not old enough in my book no! You'd be on the early side...when did your Mum have it?

My family tend to have babies into their forties so I am convinced that I'm still safe...but then again...menopause can't be all bad. No periods, a liscence for mood swings and funny hair!

80sbabe · 26/05/2012 00:41

Our youngest was the most enthusiastic of all about having a new baby in the family. The eldest who was 16 at the time was just incredulous that we still did "it" at our age and I was only 36 at the time ! Grin
However, DD2's "biggest" brother now loves the days he finishes college early as he can pick his baby sister up from nursery and take her home on the bus or to the park.

ProdigalMNer · 26/05/2012 00:44

My grandmother gave birth to my mother when she was 42 and my mother was apparently still ovulating into her 50s...

Stupid sore boobs.. Angry

OP posts:
babylann · 26/05/2012 00:44

Ah sorry when I say DD (2) I meant DD aged 2, she's my only child :) But thank you, I hope I am pregnant already soon!

Have you spoken to your husband about it? Maybe if you're feeling this way, you could ask him to consider a reversal?

ProdigalMNer · 26/05/2012 00:47

Grin Sounds like you have a very loving family 80sbabe Smile Smile

Eldest DD has already told me that if it turns out I am pg she does't want to go away to uni but wants to stay local... btw she overheard he conversation between DH and I, I wan;t intending to get her hopes up too Blush

OP posts:
ProdigalMNer · 26/05/2012 00:52

Oh God sorry Babylann Blush.

DH and I have considered and discussed a reversal several times but we figured that having 4 beautiful, healthy dc already it would be kind of tempting fate to try for a 5th, feel like we ought to count our blessings and get on with raising the ones we've got.

Tbh I have moments when raising teenage DDs has made me question my sanity at wanting so many in the first place Hmm Grin !

OP posts:
babylann · 26/05/2012 00:54

I wish there was a chance I would end up with 4 but I don't think DP will go along with that at all Angry

Ahh I don't think it would be tempting fate :) At least you've spoken about it though, I was hating the idea when you first mentioned crying in the clinic that you'd never agreed to it and that he had done it regardless of your thoughts, if you know what I mean!

And oh no no, don't be sorry, my fault for being confusing Grin

ProdigalMNer · 26/05/2012 01:00

So am I right in thinking that your second will be his first? (Although with my track record tonight I'm worried I have also got that confuzzled Confused? If so when Wink DC2 arrives on the scene he'll probably be so blown away by that rush of love he'll agree to more... tell him to think of all that practising Grin

OP posts:
babylann · 26/05/2012 01:03

Hehe nope! It will also be his second Wink

Grin
ProdigalMNer · 26/05/2012 01:10

Oh God really sorry Blush Blush Blush

I think I should go back to very sporadic lurking again as i just can't keep up... there can be no other explanation for it than my menopausal mind. Sad

Warning to other MNers , if you don't post for about 3 years and only lurk occasionally you might end up writing posts like this.

OP posts:
babylann · 26/05/2012 01:17

It's fine! Don't worry. Grin It could be nappy brain, yeah Wink

I'm such an enabler Hmm

ProdigalMNer · 26/05/2012 01:25

Grin I like to think you're humouring me to be kind... although I probably just need a jolly good talking to... does Xenia still frequent these boards ? Wink

ProdigalMNer · 26/05/2012 08:20

So this morning I woke up with that low ache in my pelvis which always feels like period pain but not quite IYKWIM

Please someone slap ma, I am clearly over thinking this...

OP posts:
Dozer · 26/05/2012 08:26

It could be neither menopause or pregnancy, could just be dicky hormones! Hope you know one way or the other soon.

JustFab · 26/05/2012 08:44

If you are stupid so am I. DH had the snip about 6 years ago and I have thought I was expecting on more than one occasion. Also wishful thinking.

When I was pregnant with my first I was 5 days late before I did a test and all week I was convinced I would come on any minute. In future TTC months I would do tests at 5 minutes late Hmm.

ProdigalMNer · 26/05/2012 08:59

Justfab... IK exactly WYM... When TTC DD2 we'd been trying for 6 months and the months I actually fell I'd convinced myself that the flight from our recent hol had just messed everything up.

I have no idea how I'm going to have the patience to wait another 12 days to find out I have actually just gone bonkers or whether I am PG Blush

OP posts:
ProdigalMNer · 26/05/2012 09:01

Dozer Smile , I know you are right... Just wishful thinking I think.

Get some cheap pee sticks from Amazon!!!

You can use them stupidly early.

You'd be very, very young for this to be the menopause.

Headagainstwall · 28/05/2012 16:44

Bump

Any news?

babylann · 28/05/2012 19:04

Also curious how you're getting on :)
