It's just So Sad

I saw a doc years ago, I never thought it would still be getting worse a young girls life defined by this she should be out doing the stupid things 19 year olds do.
I know not the most profound post but just very saddening.

She went straight from bootcamp back to her house to be told it's fish and chips for dinner

63 stone? That's about 400 kilos? Really?

Georgia was actually a registered 'carer' for her mother, but as someone pointed out on the other thread, how could she do that if she couldn't even get out of bed! But fraudulent!

Heard the radio 5 interview today recorded last year and yes she came back from boot camp to fish and chips, wtf was her mother doing all these years?

It is very sad Indeed.

I do not know her but have a relative that knew her when she was younger. Said she was such a lovely, sweet girl. Really hope she gets the care she needs. Such an awful life for a young girl.

I remember hearing the radio interview at the time and couldn't believe how unhelpful her mother was and how Georgia just accepted how her mother was. Very very sad especially as she had done well at boot camp but needed support at home that patently wasn't there. Lets hope she now gets the support she needs away from her mother and step father.

I think its so sad and at the same time its disgusting... The mother should be prosecuted for abuse IMO!

Who is the one going out and buying all the crap food for the house, supplying the takeaways and bringing the food for her? That's right, mummy!!

After my parents broke up, I stayed with my dad and I was slightly over wieght at fifteen and I told my dad I wanted to loose the weight and my dad spent that evening clearing the house of junk food and became the food police for the next few weeks until I lost the weight I wanted to!

That is what a parent should do!!

She went to that Wellsprings in the US and then came home to a totally unsupportive parent!

She is well into adulthood now, lets hope she gets some motivation and support from somewhere and manages to beat her demons.

She's 19 so definitely not 'well into adulthood'. If she has only ever lived at home she will need a huge amount of support to turn her life around.

Poor woman.

At 19 she is now old enough to make her own choices re lifestyle, diet etc etc - thats what I meant! She just need to learn to retrain herself - there comes a point when we have to become responsible for our own actions and not keep blaming someone else all the time.

Noticed the news stories about Georgia give her weight as "50 stone", "60 stone" and "63 stone". Wonder what the truth is.

Thats all well and good to say Betty but how mature do you think she is? She can't go out, presumably has few friends and no partner, only sees her mother who must do everything for her at that weight.

I reckon its like that lad in America whose mother kept him that way to keep him immature and dependant on her.

I dont know Madam I dont know her......obviously I've seen her on the news and on various documentaries and she has always come across as quite a well grounded young woman.

Sometimes in life the only one who can sort us out is ....well, us! No one can help her if she cant help herself sadly and so if she doesnt manage that, her future outlook will be very bleak :(

The poor girl. I'm so sad for her and wish I didn't know about it - not because I don't want to think about these things but because her privacy has now been invaded even more. That this awful but highly personal situation should be national news is just horrible.

That is very sad. On a practical level, it will also have been very challenging for the hospital as a lot of even bariatric equipment doesn't go up to that weight level. You need a bed, hoist, potentially a threatre table. It's a really difficult equipment issue.

Her being do big will probably allow mum and dad to go on talk shows.

Poor, poor girl. You don't get to that state by that age without the responsibility being the parents' - in this case, the mother's, as I understand the father dies when the daughter was just 5.
