because somehow I suspect they aren't anything like as beautiful as she is, even if she were the size of several hippos.

i think it's shitty that we have special words to denigrate the appearance of other human beings. lollypophead is one of those words.

it was especially shitty to be called that when i was working night shifts and my appetite was in the toilet and my clothes were hanging off me.

i feel sorry for VB, i think she had blood sugar probs during/after her 1st pg and she is still suffering from the physical changes that come with that. she wouldn't have been able to support 4 pregnancies to term if she were starving herself on purpose.

Talking about how good stacey solomon looks is just as bad as the people who talk about Aishwarya Rai looking bad. It is still focusing on the way a women looks after birth which should be irrelevant and enforcing the idea that women should look a certain way.

Arrgh yes - apparently India [or rather the Daily Mail] was 'up in arms' about this poor woman's post pregnancy appearance. Shame on all these so-called journalists. angelacarson.wordpress.com/2012/05/17/india-inequality-scandal-aishwarya-rai-baby-weight/

BonnieBumble · 25/05/2012 21:48

But Verity she has just had a baby, give her a few months and she won't look so heavy.

I hate the photos of myself after I had my children, with ds2 my face was like a big balloon. Within 6 weeks I had lost the weight without dieting. It was water retention. I hate to think I was judged for something I couldn't control.

MrsSnow · 25/05/2012 22:02

I think she looks great, good on her in doing things in her own time. I guess it shows that she has been concentrating on her daughter rather than media pressure.

Society probably needs more famous women taking their own time so that non famous women don't have the pressure to have flat stomachs 2 weeks post birth a la Victoria Beckham/Stacey Solomon.

weatherrain · 25/05/2012 22:09

Hmm at "it spoiled her being heavy". Putting on weight is a normal part of pregnancy, comments like that are right up there with breastfeeding spoils women's breasts etc. These are NORMAL things in a woman's life. Saying it has spoiled her sounds like some huge tragedy has befallen her. Confused

FeministPixie · 26/05/2012 13:50

yea that comment ticked me right off. It seems other women cannot support each other on body image issues.

I once got accused of having anorexia when I worked at Burgerking, for christ sakes. I ate a fast food meal every single day I worked there. I was 26, a size 10, and worked my ass off there.

splashymcsplash · 26/05/2012 14:04

Who? No idea who she is, so def no slagging going on here.

"She won miss world in 1994. I don't know why we care about her now though." Hmm wow, some people really do live in a little UK-centric world of their own...

Ash Rai is stunning but (objectively) could definitely do with losing a few pounds. Bollywood stars are curvier than their Hollywood counterparts (and look all the better for it IMO) but she isn't doing the best with her incredible looks right now. But if she wants to take her time about it and she is happy - why on earth not, good on her.

The worlds gone mad Sad
