best before, not use by..

It isnt anything I would not use myself, (packets of dried soup, colmans casserole mixes) and other stuff that is a few months out of date at the most, undamaged and unopened obviously..

I am having a declutter, and my kitchen food cupboard is just so full of stuff, but I would rather drop it off at the local foodbank, than just bin it, as it seems daft to waste it.

I have also sorted a load of stuff that is in date too.

Good idea, B&M Bargains near us sells stuff that is past the best before date but before the use by date. I think the use by date is the key thing.

I recently updated my Food and Hygiene certificate and can confidently confirm that it's the 'use by' date you need to take notice of.

Dented cans could also be a sign of bacterial contamination if anyone's interested.

Can you bag up the out of date all together and put a note on? Then they at least have the option there.

I think thats fine. Best before dates are just guides and most people ignore them anyway.
YANBU you are being kind!
