Holding a last minute BBQ and want to as I can't be arsed to scrub tickle the house before our friends arrive

Bathroom and kitchen and manky fridge are a must, I know ... but how far would you go? Do I need to hoover up the crumbs under the sofa cushions? Dust the picture rails? Or just spray pledge and hope no-one is that bothered Wink

Please don't have a minging loo with shit stains on it and crusty pee or puddles on the seat or floor

Please don't have cups with the stains from the last cup of tea on them

and ideally there won't be any pet droppings of any description to dodge

Years ago, I did go to see friends of my husband who were infested with cockroaches and I still get the shudders to this day. They served me food and I just poked it with my fork, convinced it was moving!

So if you've got cockroaches, I'm out of there!

apart from that, I don't really care Grin

I don't expect people to clean because I'm coming over, I expect them to have their house like normal. Such a strange thing to do if you think about it, your guests have their own homes they know what a normal house is like. I don't like the idea of my friends feeling stressed out needing to clean because they have a friend over, friends shouldnt judge.

Clean loo.
Clean kitchen.
Remove dead mouse from living room if applicable.

no, sorry, that was for the health visitor

It's funny, I get paranoid about the appearance of my house to friends, but when I go to friends I never even notice if (their house) it's messy / dusty / untidy.
