well, I most ABU and ready to accept it but couldn't help posting here in hope that I might find some people who share my view on the subject.
I find them utterly disgusting, I actually feel the smell of wee inside my nostrils when I look at them. Why, oh why do you have to announce a pg with a photo of the particular test you peed on? There must be a cuter way...

ZONKED AND CO

People can disclose the news of any pregnancy any time they bloody well want.

It's THEIR news

To start harping on about 'oh my friend did that then had a miscarriage' is insensitive.

Just because you wouldn't do it doesn't mean others shouldn't. Miscarriage is not something to be hidden away in secrecy for everyone, some people might appreciate the support and publicity often means more research

So getting carsbummouth I've r someone announcing their news when ever that choose to just makes you look a bit miserable

scatteredbraincells · 24/05/2012 18:25

Bucking I assume OP was talking about Autumn who suggested OP was "annoyed" when she hasn't said anything like that.

OP, I don't think it's weird or disgusting, I too don't see the point.. I also think you've worded this whole thing very nicely and don't understand this attack on you as being judgey.. But then this is mumsnet for you.

LOL loveisagirl.

I had to google synesthetic. Really? Now that's interesting

beccabubbless · 25/05/2012 10:48

Grin loveisa pahahahhahahahahhahahahaha xD

Moominsarescary · 25/05/2012 14:39

Agree with kayano I didnt tell anyone about ds4 until 17 weeks, then only close friends and family. I don't know why, I'd never had a mc over 8 weeks.

I lost him at 20 weeks and for a long time wished more people had known. It just made me feel worse that their were friends out there who never even knew he existed. I found it hard bringing it up with people who hadn't known I was pg

Up to the individual what the post and when

Paiviaso · 25/05/2012 15:51

YANBU, though I have never seen this on my Facebook. I have seen scans posted though, and like the pee stick, I think it is a bit intimate and really not to be shared with your friends list.

CakeBump · 25/05/2012 15:54

YANBU

Why on earth do these people feel they need to announce to the world anyway?

And why announce at 4 or 5 weeks gone, if they have only just done the test?

Its crass, and teenager-y.

twilight3 · 25/05/2012 16:38

AHAHAHAHA, almost forgot about this thread when another friend today wrote on FB "DH has hidden all my pg tests, he says since we were TTCing only last week it would be a waste of money, but we did it every night so I think we've nailed it. Pissed off with him and can't go out to buy more until tomorrow". I mean WTF? What's next? A photo of TTCing? Grin

PS: It's the word "nailed" there that got me.

twilight3 · 25/05/2012 16:39

got me laughing

McPhee · 25/05/2012 16:41

I'd be more worried if the photo was of someone actually pissing on the stick Hmm. Now that would be a bridge too far!

revolutionconfirmed · 25/05/2012 16:41

YABU. It's a photo of a trace of urine.

Katienana · 25/05/2012 16:41

YANBU, DH wouldn't look that closely at mine as he thought it was a bit gross. I find it odd to announce a pregnancy that early also.

AnyoneforTurps · 25/05/2012 17:04

Good grief, the OP is getting a hard time. She is only expressing a personal opinion and asking if anyone else feels the same. She is not condemning those who feel differently.

The pee sticks pics would not upset me but I do not think the OP is BU. See what I did there? I acknowledged that someone can have an opinion that is different from my own without necessarily BU. Stop personalising everything, People - it sucks the fun out of what should have been a light-hearted thread.

slowestwildebeast · 25/05/2012 17:24

Who keeps wee sticks for a baby book?
The last thing I would want is a 30 year old pee stick in with pictures of me looking cute.

Whatever next? Picture of the bed I was conceived in?
Yanbu.

EmmaFurk · 25/05/2012 17:33

People are happy when they find out they are expecting and just want to share it with the world! Wheres the harm in that?? Id be ecstatic for anyone on my fb to announce their pregnant by picture of pregnancy test or not!

EmmaFurk · 25/05/2012 17:34

By the way. I never posted a pic of mine but have kept them! (2) haha Grin

Moominsarescary · 25/05/2012 18:10

Ds1 3 and 4 have wee sticks in their baby books. Ds2 s has gone missing.

slowestwildebeast · 25/05/2012 18:29

mystery of the missing wee stick. :)

twilight3 · 25/05/2012 18:43

I'm sure they'll appreciate receiving these baby books later Grin

OP posts:
CakeBump · 25/05/2012 18:45

I appreciated the book my mum made up for me on my 21st, but I would have been Hmm if she'd included a pee stick!!

CakeBump · 25/05/2012 18:46

just to clarify, it had pictures and keepsakes of my life "so far"....

slowestwildebeast · 25/05/2012 19:03

I found a wee stick last week lying on the pavement. maybe the shock of being pregnant made her drop it. yacky. it was a dip in wee hospital one.
