seriously, how hard is it to put note in a diary or calendar and buy/post a card?

Or if that is too much trouble in your such busy life doing sweet feck all as far as I can see then a phone call would have done.

So if you cant be arsed, then dont, a few days later when its much too late, give a simpering smile and pathetic little giggle and say how you really meant to but........

THERE IS NO BUT - he is a upset little boy

Ah well...if it's his dad then you are definitely not being unreasonable.
Fuck's sake.

Oh ok then. YANBU. He is involved as a Dad, he should have remembered.
Clearly your nephew is not a nagger. DD age 5 gives our whole family and neighbours a count down to the day! (not that she is spoilt, nor does she expect gifts, she just looks forward to having all her friends round to celebrate with ice creams).

My Dad forgot my birthday a few years ago (and also my DB's by default as it's the same day)

I now send him a helpful reminder about DB's birthday. He takes the hint.

Don't think I know any men who send cards, except to their mother (if they remember). But he should have to his son but my useless brother doesn't remember his adult DCs unless they remind him, which they usually do.

I would remind him in future.

Sad

YA, of course, NBU.

Ithinkitsjustme · 23/05/2012 15:00

We forgot MIL's 60th! Grin

JosieZ · 23/05/2012 15:01

I don't send to great nieces and nephews (which no doubt aggrieves the parents), just send Xmas money, because i find remembering bdays a trial and of course you feel bad if you forget, so better imo not to start sending in the first place.

Groovee · 24/05/2012 12:59

A dad shouldn't forget

Poor little man. I hope he had a lovely day regardless.

I am huge on making a fuss of anyone on thier birthday as its the one day you (in theory)get to yourself a year. My brother gave me a present (very kind) in March for last years on my son's birthday to me, but my birthday is tommorow!...I do not expect anything but it did make me smile as our attitudes are so different despite the same upbringing!
