At what age is it OK to put a child on a zip wire alone?

(will do the AIBU bit after a few responses)

Said zip wire is approx 10m long, 1-1.5m off the ground. How old do you think a child should be before being placed on and let go?

There's a similar one in a park near us. DS was only confident on it just before he turned 5. But he would happily whizz down it with me running and holding him for months before that.

Can't remember if I've let 3.6yo DD do it on her own yet, I may have actually.

My 5 year old has just started going on the zip wire alone, although the first time he fell of and winded himself! Shock

Didn't stop him having another go though Grin

My three year olds go on the one at our park by themselves but it is pretty slow and the request came from them. I suspect your dh misjudged the situation and is too proud to admit it. My dh doesn't have great judgement of what is and isn't appropriate for the kids.
