For the better?
The scenario? Driving up narrow one way street. Man goes to open car door into traffic and get in passenger side at side of road. See's me coming, waves me on indicating he will move. I thought, why's he parked there? No one parks there. It's awkward and for the driver and everyone else, unless he literally wants to step out of car and be IN the sho.....oh
Stopped, waited, cars behind me now beeping. Guy insists I go on, I insist he gets straight into the car and that I'm not in a hurry. He gets into car. His mate drives him off. He waves at me out of back window until he takes a different turn off.
I've never whinged about those who are less mobile taking more time, or bashed those who have disabilities. But before I was here I would have never given any consideration to the scenario, I would have let him move for me THEN noticed his mobility (as I wouldn't have thought about why he was parked there before) and just felt awful about it.
Even if there wasn't any mobility issues, there might have been, and waiting a few minutes either way wouldn't have hurt.
Mumsnet, I think you've made me a nicer and more considerate person.
(I hope this hasn't come across as patronising I've just never thought along those lines before unless it's been really bloody obvious. I genuinely feel
about myself in the past and :o about today)
