Saw the cover of one of those 'Take a rest'/'Have a cup of tea'/'Sit down with a nice crossword'-type magazines yesterday. It said 'I married my rapist'. Perhaps I'm being over-sensitive, and I'm sure it's a very heart-warming story Hmm, but AIBU to have found it a bit - well - of questionable taste? I can't really put my finger on it, but it's really been bothering me.

I was thinking exactly that Fireandashes. Also wondering how they would answer that question at a party.

It could be a story of someone that was under age when they had sex, so that it was statutory rape?

Those mags have a great way of spinning headlines that have nothing to do with the stories.

I have no idea how she could fall for him. It is beyond reason. How did that first meeting/conversation go? The first sex? How did her skin not crawl? How did he feel? Ugh...I don't want to read that article but I really can't see how they went from rapist/victim to husband and wife. As FireandAshes says, if they have children how will they explain it, the fact it is public knowledge means they are unlikely to be able to cover it up in the future Hmm

I read that......man, god only knows what is going on in that womans brain to actually marry him!

Voidka · 22/05/2012 11:41

Is this is maybe

:(

MissM · 22/05/2012 12:11

Ok, now I've read the story I'm even more flabbergasted. 'how had I let this happen?' Her fault, and her mates' fault for letting him while she was drunk is what this is saying. But it's all ok now cos he's the love of her life (although I'm not quite sure how or where she made that leap). What a horrible horrible story.

Actually feel quite physically sick. About literally everyone involved, including people who buy this shite (sorry!) Sad

scrablet · 22/05/2012 12:14

Unbelievable.
Can this possibly be true?
Is it like a DV situation where the woman becomes desensitised?
I cant get my head round it!
