to wonder why on earth people would pay £80,000 for a PHOTO of an Olympic torch?

On eBay: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/London-2012-Olympic-Torch-Photo-/330736101504?pt=UK_Sports_Memorabilia_ET&hash=item4d01686880

That's a worry isn't it! Shock

I wonder how many of those bids are from people who don't speak English and don't understand it's only a photo!

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 21/05/2012 15:25

I thought it was the same as the bidding on the actual torches...people are putting silly bids in as a mark of protest!

out2lunch · 21/05/2012 15:25

yy protest bids - was on the news this morning

TroublesomeEx · 21/05/2012 15:26

oh really?

I thought bids were binding?

reastie · 21/05/2012 15:28

Crikey, that is a worry, I do hope it is protest bids and not someone actually thinking they will get a torch Hmm

RubberBandit · 21/05/2012 15:29

Most likely to be a deliberate auction wrecker. There are people who look for such ridiculous auctions and deliberately bid stupid amounts (with no intention of paying) to deter innocent people from bidding and to inconvenience and piss off the scammer.

PiedWagtail · 21/05/2012 17:54

Aha - there are LOADs of them - photos of the torch, that is - but what about the actual torches?? One went for £150,000 earlier - is that a scam bid too??

I thought there was one olympic torch. Do people get one of their own to carry? I'm confused

PiedWagtail · 21/05/2012 18:36

Yes, everyone gets their own one to carry - plus Olympic uniform - if they are chosen to carry it on part of the way past their home town.
