Oh the shame! I'm going to that special place in hell for P and C space users!

The guilt I'm feeling is just too much to bare, I need to confess my sin...

Im 10 days away from giving birth, I went to sainsburys earlier, the car park was very busy, there were a lot of P and C spaces free, so (hangs head in shame and can barely bring self to whisper it) I PARKED IN ONE!!

But then, oh no, a woman in something big and shiny, had to park in one just one space further away from the entrance, and as I opened my car door (all the way out for once!) and managed to actually haul my fat ass massive bump out my seat without for once banging/sliding it against the side of my car, but failed to produce an actual flesh and blood visible child, I got, wait for it, you won't believe it.... A filthy look and a tut/mutter something under her breath Shock

The shame, the shame. Im sure you will all agree that I am an awful person and must never again dain the public with my huge bump let alone even consider going shopping and want to be able to actually get out my car Grin

Ooh look, I nearly let my cup of tea go cold!

She is probably just about to start an outraged thread. Grin

lolajane2009 · 21/05/2012 11:43

lol tbh i found being heavily pregnant worse than having a small child.

TheVermiciousKnid · 21/05/2012 11:44

In any case, it's not a problem unless you have a barking elderly person in your car. :)

MsIngaFewmarbles · 21/05/2012 11:44

Surely that is what P&C spaces are for? You are a P&C, just still in one package Grin

I park in them whether children with me or not!! Load of old bollocks, I don't judge you.

ClaimedByMe · 21/05/2012 11:46

In the good old days when P&C were quite new Tesco advertised them from pregnancy to age 5, my dd is 9 now so I dont know if its the same, you also got a wee sticker for your windscreen!

PickledFanjoCat · 21/05/2012 11:47

What a nasty lady. Try and make sure your waters break all over her car.

Pseudo341 · 21/05/2012 11:48

IMO P&C spaces are for:

(not necessarily in this order)

  1. disabled people when all the disabled spaces have been taken
  2. disabled people on foot (as opposed to me in my leccy wheelchair) if the idiot designing the carpark has put the P&C spaces nearer the shop than the disabled spaces
  3. disabled people with no blue badge or temporary disabilities like broken legs or SPD.
  4. people with young children
  5. heavily pregnant women who can't squeeze out of the car in a normal width space
  6. people carrying big heavy things

I've probably missed a few other catagories off. P&C spaces are great for so many reasons.

PickledFanjoCat · 21/05/2012 11:52

They should have "Arsey Spaces" for people who cant park nicely without tutting somewhere at the back, and they can all bristle and tut at each other away from the general public.

oldraver · 21/05/2012 11:53

I only wish I had thought of doing this when nearly 8 months and parked in Tesco, when someone parked so close to me VB would of had difficulty squeezing in

I had to climb in through the passenger side

doradoo · 21/05/2012 11:57

Wouldn't it be so much better if they made all carparking spaces a decent width? Cars have pretty much all got bigger since the 'standard' parking space was designed and as a result not many fit well - and I suppose a lot of people have also got bigger.....

Losing a few spaces overall isn't going to make much difference to the number of people shopping and would make for happier shoppers overall.

GimmieChocolate · 21/05/2012 12:05

TVK - damn, knew I'd forgotten something! Must find an old disabled person (but without a blatantly obvious disability) to bring next time!

oldraver - oh no, climbing over passenger seat can't of been easy at that stage of pregnancy!

doradoo - it most definitely would be better! We have small precinct shopping area not far from me and I parked there about a month ago, the spaces are so narrow, I actually couldn't get out my car! It doesn't help that my car is 3 door so needs to be opened wider to actually get out in the first place!

I got an arsey comment from another driver the other day for using a P+C space.

I walked up to the car, unlocked it, and this tool pulled up behind me, stuck his head out of the window, and said 'can you hurry up, we want this space' He had no children visible in his car (and no car seats).

I was pushing a pushchair with a toddler in it, and am MASSIVELY pregnant at the moment. The look he recieved may have suggested that he go fuck himself.

And 2 days previously, same car park, I was v proud of my parking in a normal space, with car perfectly aligned in middle of the space - could not have been neater! Until I returned to it, and found that the people who had parked on either side of me had both managed to actually park in my space too. So I nearly tore my bump off getting DS into the car, then myself, then took 10 minutes to back out without scratching my car, whilst onlookers pointed and jeered.

It's bloody good I have low blood pressure at the moment, or I would have actually burst on both of these occasions.

Oh, and YANBU, but I needed a rant :o

sue52 · 21/05/2012 12:11

I like Pickledfanfocat's idea of designated spaces for arsey people who like to tut at people.

GimmeChocolate You can park where ther hell you like as as I'm concerned.

Whatmeworry · 21/05/2012 12:12

You were a parent "with Child".

sorted :)

PickledFanjoCat · 21/05/2012 12:15

It can get to you some days cant it. I had DS a few weeks old in the petrol station he'd been crying for ever and I needed petrol, and I had to lug him in the car seat and touched some man's wing mirror who was tutting on and on, and I found myself shouting I SAID FUCKING SORRY with a wild look in my eye. He shut up then.

GimmieChocolate · 21/05/2012 12:17

Kveta - I really feel for you. There are so many people that say "well if you parked in the middle of the space blah blah blah" yet when you do some inconsiderate moron (or morons in this case) who can't park just come along and undoes all your hard work!

And FWIW I would of definitely burst into tears with that.

I had the embarrassing situation the other day of going to my local teco's and parking in a P&C as I had DS with me. In tesco's we meet a friend who was justing finishing her shopping and Ds went home with her....
Oh the walk of shame.....

mum9989 · 21/05/2012 12:30

When I was about 8 mths PG with DD1 I parked the car, went off to do my shopping, came back to find a 30 cm gap on either side of the car - I ended up having to climb through the boot to get into the car - nothing wrong at all needing extra width when very PG - its reasonable use really isn't it.

sashh · 21/05/2012 12:50
