My daughter is doing a competition this week (I won't say what as I will out myself straight away). On the entry rules it clearly states that if you want to photograph your child, permits will be available on the day. Based on this, a good friend of mine who is much better at photography than me booked a morning off work to take them for us. It's her first ever competition so this was very kind of him.
Today I hear from another parent that the organisers have decided not to allow photography after all and if you want photographs you have to pay for the official ones at ££££. I checked with the organiser, and yes, they decided in a recent meeting because the official photographer stipulated those terms.
Friend may come anyway and support her but probably wouldn't have booked the holiday for it. I am pretty furious as the damn thing cost enough to enter anyway, not to mention costume etc, without having to pay extra for photos on top.
Am I unreasonable to think that it shouldn't have been put on the entry form that we could photograph if we actually couldn't?
Help me get some perspective on this because I am annoyed and upset out of all proportion and I'm not sure why. The extra cost is annoying but I think it's the embarrassment at messing friend around that is more it. She hasn't competed before so it's not a regular thing for us and I guess that may be feeding me getting so uptight.
