Aibu to complain about an outstanding academy school?

For various reasons, not least of them that they have lied to me on more than one occasion.

I have a meeting with the head on Thursday, but if when that goes badly, wibu to make a formal complaint(s), even though this school has an excellent reputation and was graded outstanding at last inspection? And if not, has anyone else complained about this kind of school?

Apologies if this doesn't make much sense, I'm shattered but can't sleep for fretting.

Teachers have told me that a "switched on" head teacher can put the effort in, jump through the Ofsted shaped hoops and bring an adequate school up to Outstanding. If you have reason to complain, then do so, it's your right and duty as a parent. If you tolerate this, then your children will be next...

It is an outstanding school and I'm guessing Cathy has a child there.

can everyone just stop putting bloody OFSTED on this pedestal - it isn't worth the paper it's written on and Academies are the devils work

Chandon · 19/05/2012 21:27

Agree.

I thought the ofsted rating meant something but I am now sadder and wiser

pointythings · 19/05/2012 21:42

OFSTED never meant much. It means even less now that its head is Michael Gove's pet rottweiler.

Colour me cynical, but you probably don't stand much chance, OP. After all this is an Academy you are talking about, the flagship of two governments in succession, so they can't possibly be doing anything wrong, can they?

Cathycomehome · 19/05/2012 23:50

Sadly, that thought had crossed my mind, pointythings. Every time I pass the place with its "outstanding school" banner, murderous rage creeps upon me (this could be a slight exaggeration Grin ).

You have had great advice. Difficult to say if you are being unreasonable though with no knowledge of the complaint. Sympathise though, we had a daughter at an oversubscribed, outstanding, school that is now planning to become an academy. The only outstanding the ht deserved imo was for lying - great big whoppers like "no other parent has ever raise this". DD doesn't go there anymore.
