Pissy sticks on Facebook

Why?

Ok, you are excited. You want to share with all 642 people on your Facebook the news that you are about 5 minutes pregnant. That's great and I am happy for you.

But.

The photo of the pregnancy test, still visibly wet, is not actually necessary or interesting. Its a stick. Made of cardboard and plastic. Covered in your cold piss.

I've seen this on FB, often it's the first the pissee's close friends and extended family hear about it!

I think that sucks! There's something lovely about getting a phone/text/face to face from someone who wants YOU to know their news before it's general public's news.

I suppose, if the pissee personally told family and close friends first, then it's a bit gross, and they might regret it, but it's their choice. Most oversharers I know though don't do this!

I did take a picture of my stick, mostly because I was so stunned that I wanted to be able to check back repeatedly, and the test said the line might fade after a few hours. It was purely for my own reference, never to be shown to anyone else!

With you on this Kayano

I came on thinking we were talking about penises.

Some people like living their lives in the public domain. I don't. I can't be bothered with Facebook.

Kennyp · 19/05/2012 13:14

Were there pictures of the conception too?

monkeymoma · 19/05/2012 13:25

I've seen a whole labour uploaded in real time with pictures and commentary
(defriended that one!)

Shock at everyone who kept their pissy sticks.

I thought I was the only one. Grin

Didn't put it on FB though...
