to expect cold callers to pronounce my name properly and not hang up!

I seem to be getting so many sales calls at the moment. These are annoying at the best of times but are getting worse due to poor manners and laziness/ignorance.
Both myself and DH have unusual firstnames and surname but both are pronounced exaxctly as they are written I'm getting so tired of sales call where they say "hello, can I speak to ...erm...Mrs...erm...Ballogaskigsdfjkghrh?"
Me - "You mean Mrs Bloggs?" If they're going to disturb me at home, they could at least get my name right or even close .

Also when I politely say no thankyou, I expect a thanks for your time or at least a goodbye, not a dial tone. It's so rude to hang up and they called me!

Next, telling a company once that you're not interested should be enough, twice a little annoying but after that?

Don't even get me started on door-to-door sales and preachers I'll save that for another thread .

Sorry I realise this is not so much an AIBU (as I know I am not) as a rant but I do feel much better for it! Anyone else need a moan?

P.S. I am always polite but am considering not being.

India calls me deep sigh even though with TPS for years... makes not a jot of difference.

DH has taken to "getting murdered" on the telephone when getting calls from India. It was funny the first few times. Less so now.

We're registered with TPS and still get sales calls. A lot about PPI recently. Some about government grants for solar panels. I usually tell them to take us off the list and that we're registered with TPS. Sometimes that works.

For the solar panels, I tell them it's a listed building and isn't allowed. They.seem to take me off the list then.

TPS does not result in an end to Sales calls. I too have had the solar panel ones and the PPI ones despite being with TPS for years.

Will try the listed building one - very good idea! I tell the PPI ones I have never ever had a loan or mortgage in my life.

Apparently the ppi calls are exempt from tps rules. I told the last one I was disgusted that I'd been called, and hope to have been taken off the list for now.

I also handed toddler the phone to speak with last Indian caller. Felt a bit guilty afterward. It's a crappy job, they don't have much choice.

I've been getting bored with my usual tactics and have been trawling the interweb for new ideas. So thank you, everyone on here, and elsewhere. The next few calls will be met with 1) 2 minutes of non-stop French or 2) murder sound effects or 3) the sad news that my MIL is dead when they ask for Mrs Husband's Surname (I kept my maiden name when I married.

BTW, on the doorstep, the double glazing salesmen are told we rent, the charity muggers are told no-one works in the house, and the God-botherers are told we're Satanists. Oh, and satellite / film hire mongers get a furious diatribe about nobody else in the house doing a hand's turn and me never having a moment to watch telly never mind films, complete with staring eyes and flying spittle.
