My daughter is currently taking her GCSE's. She is quite clever but getting such extreme exam nerves that her grades have all been D's. Obviously there have been lots of tears and hand wring.
A woman at works daughter is at the same stage and she keeps coming in and saying ' how did Miss F get on with maths etc?' Of course every exam so far her daughter has got A*
So can I just tell her to bugger off you showoff next time she comes in, or am I just a mean jealous cow?

dont rise to her. say gosh shes doing well. ms f is doing great too am so proud of her. end of conversation.

fridayfreedom · 16/05/2012 21:55

either tell her that she's doing very well, and/or say that she doesn't want you to discuss her grades with anyone else as it's not a competition!!

scuzy · 16/05/2012 21:59

i wouldnt say you dont want to discuss it as she sounds like the kind of mum who would smirk and be smug and say "not doing too well is she". dont give her the ammo dont rise to her. tell her you are proud of her and either walk away or change the subject.

or else throw in "is your kid going to x's party sat night after the exams"? and when she looks puzzled say "oh guess she wasnt invited".

These are the modules/controlled assessments you take in the first year which count towards your overall marks.
Scuzy I'm very tempted!
