I am planning on getting a trampoline for the familyto use, me, dh and dd (age 2). Because we all want to use it i am planning on getting ten foot one but it says suitable for ages 6+ so i am just wondering if it would really be dangerous for my dd to go on it. I would always be watching her but just not sure why the age is so high?

I have an 8 foot one in my garden. It has a net surrounding it and the children all under 2 1/2 love it .

They are a hazard, but usually only if:

You don't set it up properly on even ground and tighten it up
You don't have the safety net round it
You don't supervise them on it at that age
You are a large drunk adult who thinks it looks like a laugh.

I am very careful with my kids about following age appropriate advice and when we got 1 for dd1 when she was six, even I let dd2 who was 2 then use it - with the above precautions.

I can see one in a garden a street or two away from. Y top window. The frame is all twisted, the safety netw long gone, poles sticking in all directions, and it's always full of kids with no adult ever in sight. Now that makes my bloom run cold.

YANBU but be very careful and stick with the guidelines. Adults should NEVER bounce a child on the trampoline as the child will out of sync with the trampoline and they can get fractures very easily. Make sure you have a net properly fitted. Only one person at a time. etc etc.

I always thought t was due to them being so light that they can bounce off in unexpected directions and possibly land on their neck or hurt their backs.

I know that my trampoline has a very even tension...we got a TP one as they are designed to have no variations in the tension (though I am sure there are!).

I think it's fine as long as you watch where you put it and make sure the zip is ALWAYS closed..my frineds 2 year old DS bounced through theopen flap on mine and right onto the grass. He landed well and was fine but we both felt ill about the thought of him landing on his head!

Oh and if you're planning on having a go yourself...do your Kegels first! Grin it's very interesting how you don't realise you've a weak bladder until you have a bounce!

ithinkitsjustme I didn't realise hat you shouldn't boune a child on there i always bounce dd on my friends as she doesn't really know how to bounce herself yet but i will be very careful in future. Also our garden is not totally flat so im wondering if it is going to be safe now? Gsh i didn't realise buying a trampoline would cause me so many worries/ anxiety! Confused
