to not admit to dh the street party isn't happening on the puree

Our garden resembles step toes yard. Its a mess and irritates the fuck out of me. I've been nudging dh to get it sorted for a while. Basically he started digging it out to make a drive but took ill (ok not his fault he's better now but still not himself) and was out of work for ages so no money to finish. Anyway the health and money situation has improved. My garden has not.

A neighbour spoke to me yesterday about a street party. She's speaking to the council about having it round the back of the houses in the garages. So I mentioned to dh about a street party and lo and behold he springs into action! Digger ordered, skip booked... All because he thinks the street party is happening out front I'm guessing.

So do I fess up or act daft?

Act daft. Never say a word. Congrats on your pending new garden Grin

rhondajean · 16/05/2012 10:00

Well it's not confirmed its at back yet is it? Grin

suzikettles · 16/05/2012 10:00

God no, don't fess up! He hasn't actually said to you that he thinks it's out front has he?

Look, the job needs done and it's getting done. All good.

WorraLiberty · 16/05/2012 10:02

Lol at puree Grin

Why was it down to your DH to sort it out though and not you/both of you?

ZZMum · 16/05/2012 10:02

Well given how unreasonable you appear from this to have been -demanding your sick and poor husband sorts out your garden without actually doing anything yourself - can you really not book a skip or digger? - not sure why you need to have a get out plan?

Greythorne · 16/05/2012 10:03

Do. Not. Fess. Up.

bejeezus · 16/05/2012 10:07

haha...ah...I think you should campaign to have street (or puree) party round t'front, so your dh can show off his new drive. You could put thrones on it and dress up as king and queen!

takingiteasy · 16/05/2012 10:09

Lol ok I asked for that. I had a baby 3 weeks ago so surprisingly enough not been up to driving diggers etc recently. It was his project, he started it and has a habit of not seeing things through to completion so I've kept out whilst gently reminding him it needs done!

Ahh didn't realise that...congratulations!

Understandably your brain is probably puree'd on lack of sleep....hence the thread title Grin

rogersmellyonthetelly · 16/05/2012 10:15

Admit nothing. As an aside, purée is an awesome Autocorrect from street. I mean how?

WorraLiberty · 16/05/2012 10:18

I once told my friend I was eating chocolate 'bighorns'

It was meant to say 'biscuits' Hmm

takingiteasy · 16/05/2012 10:19

If it was a case of getting a company in to do it I would have but that's not how we roll! Dh is a tradesman and has an aversion to getting a man in! he's very much an 'I'll do it' type. He just takes his time!

Dont say a word :) congrats on your new baby & garden :)

Thumbwitch · 16/05/2012 11:58

Fully agree - love the puree typo, btw - do NOT tell him. Congratulations on the new baby - if he complains later, you have the perfect excuse of baby-brain anyway! Grin

takingiteasy · 16/05/2012 13:53

Will act daft... 'tis not that hard to be honest!

Am now excited! Couldn't give a toss about the street party cos I can't get pissed but happy it's given DH the motivation to get our garden sorted!

Our slatternly neighbour has moved out so our garden is no longer the 2nd worst on the street, it's the worst.
