My DD1 went through a phase of it at that age. Wouldn't leave the house without her lippy on. YABU

Hebiegebies · 15/05/2012 20:35

DD was the same, she would nick mine till I got her her own (no17 so she didn't react to it) but it was all very pale.

squeakytoy · 15/05/2012 20:36

YANBU...

Make up on toddlers looks ridiculous and is completely unnecessary.

As for "wouldnt leave the house without her lippy on"... who is in control there jaybelle?

catgirl1976 · 15/05/2012 20:36

Eh? YANBU. Can't be good for their skin surely?

WorraLiberty · 15/05/2012 20:37

Yuk!

YANBU

manicbmc · 15/05/2012 20:38

YANBU - kids don't need make up. Toddlers certainly don't. Fine for a bit of dress up play but for school? No way ever.

ErikNorseman · 15/05/2012 20:39

'my dd was the same' really? Ever heard of the word no?

My DS would love to try my makeup on. But I tell him no, it's for grow ups. I somehow think your DCs wouldn't be allOwed to insist if they were boys Hmm

Showmethemhappyfeet · 15/05/2012 20:39

YANBU. As the grown up surely it's up to you to make your child leave the house when they should. I HATE kids with makeup! My 2yo loves 'putting on makeup' she has an unused blusher brush and an old lipgloss with a lid on. No product touches her face.

fuckbucket · 15/05/2012 20:42

OP this IS a windup isn't it?

BonnieBumble · 15/05/2012 20:43

"Wouldn't leave the house without it"

Sorry but that made me laugh Grin

AngiBolen · 15/05/2012 20:44

What about a two year old boys?

DS was known to apply a bit of bronzer (I think because he liked the feel of the brush) and on occasion wore nail varnish on his toes to nursery.

No different to going to nursery in a teddy dressing up out fit, or a frilly tutu and sparkly wings.

Springforward · 15/05/2012 20:45

Shock YANBU.

crashdoll · 15/05/2012 20:45

Every day would be weird. The odd occasion is fine.

AngiBolen · 15/05/2012 20:46

Yes, every day would be weird.

winkle2 · 15/05/2012 20:47

It's not a wind up unfortunately

HolyCameraConfusionBatman · 15/05/2012 20:48

It's just the same as facepaints really. I wouldn't let them go to school nursery with facepaints on, but if they're 2 then I assume it's a day nursery? I think it's fine. It's one of those things where I can see it happening; mum is applying her make-up, DD wants some, put some on, any suggestion of washing it off is going to lead to an all mighty fight, need to get out the house, leave it on. Fair enough.

YABU

YANBU

I love makeup but Hmm at a 2 year old not wanting to leave the house without it! Shock

On the Werther's Original advert I swear the v young girl on that (not a toddler but about 6) has full makeup on and I thought that was bad enough when I noticed it the other day!

manicbmc · 15/05/2012 20:50

The kid on that ad wears more make up than me. Shock

Sirzy · 15/05/2012 20:50

If its a one off then fair enough but not every day!

buggyRunner · 15/05/2012 20:51

I draw the line at fake tan Wink
The only way I get to do my make up is if she joins in (I need her with me as I have dd2 who is 9 months with me- not safe to leave the 2 of them alone together)
I always wipe it off after (or attempt to) she has also been known to rifle through my hand bag for my Vaseline from time to time!

Flisspaps · 15/05/2012 20:53

I wouldn't. I dislike makeup on toddlers.

I only wear it myself on very special occasions.

DD -2yo- has just this week found a brush from somewhere and has taken to 'putting her makeup on' Hmm I can only guess it is something she has seen MIL and SIL do as its not something I've done in front of her.

As for not leaving the house without it, a simple 'no' should do, followed by ignoring any ensuing tantrum.

Tinkerisdead · 15/05/2012 20:55

Urgh yanbu. My dd is 3 and i dont let her put makeup on let alone go to nursery in it. She does plead to have it but i tell her no!

Voidka · 15/05/2012 20:55

When DD was 2 she was bridesmaid at my SIL's wedding.

2 days before the wedding she fell over at preschool and gave herself a lovely black eye so I used cover up on it for the photos and I still felt really guilty.

Seriously, you'd argue with a toddler over lippy while trying to get them out the door? A bit of lipgloss that was more often than not gone by the time we walked through the nursery door is worth putting the foot down over?

I choose my battles with my littlies!

She's 7 now and keeps a Lipsyl in her blazer pocket...is that okay d'ya think or will she be scarred for life?
