"I managed to source some fabulous, must-have pieces yesterday. They were great finds!"

No, you bought two tops and a dress from Primark. One of the bigger Primarks that has maybe more stuff in it than the smaller one round the corner. Idiot.

Ambrosius · 13/05/2012 08:42

'I've teamed Ballet flats with skinny jeans'

Bagofholly · 13/05/2012 11:33

Ambrosius, at least it's not skinny jean. Jean. For people with one leg??? The fashion use of singleness in relation to leg coverings makes my head ache.

Aboutlastnight · 13/05/2012 14:43

Oh I hate 'medalled' too. Grrr

WTF is wrong with 'he was a medallist'

AutumnSummers · 13/05/2012 15:52

It's a common word where I live and I live in quite a rough part of town. I suppose it might look daft if you don't hear / read it every day. I don't have it as part of my regular vocabulary but I don't shudder every time I hear it either.

LizzieMint73 · 13/05/2012 17:12

I hate the 'rocking the look' to mean um, wearing some clothes? Also, when people say done or did, when they mean 'went to' as in I've done all the thai restaurants in the area, or We did Barcelona and Naples last summer Angry. Pretentiousness that just makes them look like idiots IMHO

I worked with someone who told me he was going to "download a kettle" to use in his office. Ugh. I also hate "I'm good" and "gotten" spilling from an English mouth.

oiwheresthecoffee · 13/05/2012 17:39

Personally loathe stepped out. No one fuckin steps out. Grrr.

FuntimeFelicity · 13/05/2012 17:47

YANBU

People who have 'pieces' rather than clothes have a similar effect.

CrumpettyTree · 13/05/2012 18:16

Was going to say the same FuntimeFelicity! Such a poncey expression! :o

CrumpettyTree · 13/05/2012 18:18

soverylucky That's a very nice pant you are wearing! :o

kittyandthefontanelles · 13/05/2012 18:20

People who say space instead of room.

AutumnSummers · 13/05/2012 18:48

The phrase that grates my cheese (Does "grate my cheese" grate anyone's cheese?!) is the "That awkward moment when..." thing that's popular on FB at the moment.

That, and when people say "Touching base." It sounds pervy!

Bagofholly · 13/05/2012 19:12

Ok sit well back from the screen. Put down any sharp objects for this one. Drain your drinks to save your walls..,

"My bad."

Aaarrrrrggggghhhhhhhhhh.

Ffffuuuuuuuuccccckkkkkkk. Angry

Aboutlastnight · 13/05/2012 20:02

Add 'rock up' to that list

Ambrosius · 13/05/2012 20:23

OOh yes the singular 'trouser'. Angry

All of the above get right on my tits!

CrumpettyTree · 13/05/2012 21:18

Those lists that start with
"You know you're a"
eg. You know you're a parent when.....You find a Thomas toy in your handbag .
You know you're a child of the 70s.. when you used to be sent out with a flea in your ear and not allowed back in until teatime.
What? So you hadn't realised you were a parent/child of the 70s until then?

Herecomesbod · 13/05/2012 21:31

May I add 'artisan' or 'artisanal', usually used to describe something which has been made by hand. Although often seen at craft fairs, farmers' markets or similar, I have seen various examples creeping onto the high street. No problem if that's a genuine handmade item, bit of an issue if it's been mass-produced in a factory somewhere.

Totes gets on my tits

Mrsjay · 13/05/2012 21:37

if i hear the words sourced produce i die a little and local finishes me off , why cant the pretentious just say i boiught my meat at the butchers . or i looked for , sourced my arse Grin

wasabipeanut · 13/05/2012 21:45

Can I add the use of "myself" instead of "me"? Seems to be a particular favourite of The Apprentice wannabes this year.

"So, who made the decision to buy 30,000 chickens?"
"That would be myself Lord Sugar."

Angry
CrumpettyTree · 13/05/2012 22:06

Imagine if one of us goes to a BBQ this Summer and we compliment the host on the sausages and they say "Yes, they are artisan sausages that I sourced at the local butcher!" We won't be able to stop sniggering. :o

Bagofholly · 13/05/2012 22:55

I'd like to add "rustic" when used instead of the more appropriate "rubbish".

"Yes the pastry is wonderfully crumbly and full of holes, leaking lovely gravy. That's so rubbish rustic."
