To tell DD1 to stop growing?

She's 11 and needed new jeans. So we went shopping, and nothing in the child sizes fit. I shouldn't have been surprised/annoyed - she's nearly 5'1'' and developing, but the only thing she fit into was Next's petite adult range - size 6 was a brilliant fit with some growing room height wise. Great, but cost £50 for 2 pairs of jeans.

Aaaaaaargh!

This thread makes me quite pleased Ds is only short! He is 2.5 and 12-18 clothes still drown him!

You should try the H & M teen range. Dd1 is 15 and only just grown out of it. She's 5ft 6....

I'll always remember my DLMIL, who was about 5'1" looking up at my 6 ft DH and wondering out loud where her little boy had gone.

Well i am 5'2 and both my DCs were taller than me at the age of 12. DS is 16 and has been 6ft for about 2 years now and DD 14 is 5'5 and a size 6/8
I actually think that adult clothing was cheaper than the few places that do teenage ranges.
Trying to get clothes for a boy of 11/12 that are not quite adult size ie over 5ft but under 5'8 on the high street was almost impossible until i discovered Red Herring at Debenhams.

Number 1 son is 13yrs 8mths, He's 5ft 9 1/2in, and in a size 9 shoe.

Im lucky as he isnt too fashion concious at the mo, hes quite happy in joggers, Tshirt and hoodie.
The problem I do have tho, is when he needs something a bit more smarter, is finding something suitable for a 13yr old in the adult mens clothing aisles/shops,
I find clothing for adult men to old, iyswim
And I do resent having to pay out the inflated prices that Top Man and the like charge.

I found the H&M child range of jeans very very slim fitting indeed - will in fact be perfect for DD2 when she hits that height as she is very slender and tall.

I do really like the Next jeans I got for DD, and she has got room in them to grow both upward and outward - she has a pair of boyfriend ones (they come with a belt and need to, but that slouchy look is good on her - and a pair of skinnies (which work as straight legs on her, definitely not skin tight). Both have enough length that she can grow about an inch and a half before they are too short, and as DD1 has already said she can then wear the skinnies as 'cropped' (she;s very price conscious).

I've been in Primark, I have not been impressed so far but may try them again if DD keeps growing like this...

DD1 has a UK size 5 shoe, DD2 is a 3.5(and she is 4'9''). She was 9 in February so is clearly destined to be tall. DD1 has my build - big shoulders/hips, narrow waist, curves) whilst DD2 takes after DH when he was that age, much slenderer in every way (but she gets the height from my side of the family). They both have awkward feet, narrow heels, high insteps = expensive shoes too.

My 12 year old DD is 5' 6.5" tall with size 11 feet and still growing!! She's a size 10/12 jeans, size 14 top.

Thank you all for putting my DDs into context, I may now allow DD1 to grow another inch or two this year Smile

Ithinkitsjustme where do you get your DDs shoes from?! I think my DD1 will be the same as she's size 2 foot now and only 6 years old!!
