I mean FAT

It has assumed the status of a swear word or racial slur or something.

There are a few people who have medical reasons for weight, and a few with psychological, then there are an awful lot of Greedies (me included).

Fat isn't good, it's unhealthy. Why do we have to pretend it's fine? Confused

That woman needs to wear a bra

ShutUpMeg · 11/05/2012 15:58

I agree. If you're fat, you're fat.

I hate all this "large lady" or "heavy set" shite.

You're either skinny. Average or fat. If you don't like being skinny - eat more. If you don't like being fat, go on a diet. If you don't like being average - well, you're a bit weird.

ovenchips · 11/05/2012 16:03

Trills. I thought it was the fact that she doesn't need to wear a bra that helps to make her embonpoint magnifique!

Emphaticmaybe · 11/05/2012 16:11

This is a quote from Fay Weldon writing in Allure magazine on the realities of Fat,
'Fat is depression. Fat is wanting minor pleasure now instead of major pleasure later. Fat is not believing in a future, which is why you want the minor pleasure now.....Fat is heart attacks, bad knees, and a-self-perpetuating low self-image. Fat is all kinds of things but one thing it's not is thin. Another thing it's not is beautiful. Fat is disgusting. Fat is a dulling wall between you and reality; fat is a comfort, an excuse, and an escape from sex. Fat is yours to control.....lucky the thin because the sun of society shines on them. Weak and unlucky the fat, because they refuse to see it, will go on trying forever to change the world rather than themselves, crying 'it isn't fair' all the way to their extra-large coffins.'

Oh God I'm torn between going for a jog or eating another cakeGrin

Vajazzler · 11/05/2012 16:22

I am FAT. I made myself fat by eating too much 'Hydrogenated fat spread on processed wheat' and other yummy stuff while sitting my lardy ass on the sofa.
I have busted a gut my own lardy gut to lose 8stone in the last year without resorting to medical intervention and laugh at people who tell me i shouldnt worry so much as im just big boned Hmm when was the last time you looked at a skeleton and said wow he was big boned Confused

GrahamTribe · 11/05/2012 16:24

Dammit, I thought that this was going to be my opportunity to say "fuck off Hully" when I read the thread title! Grin

toofattorun · 11/05/2012 17:02

I am too fat to run.

SeaHouses · 11/05/2012 17:05

DD says it hurts people's feelings to refer to them as fat; you should refer to them as chubby instead.

bibbitybobbitybunny · 11/05/2012 17:07

I bloody love Fay Weldon - woman's a legend.

bronze · 11/05/2012 17:08

Emphatic have the cake Grin

Trills · 11/05/2012 17:13

It would look better with a good bra.

DialsMavis · 11/05/2012 17:20

I am nearly not fat! Just a few more lbs... Fat is shite, not going there again I don't think

Hullygully · 11/05/2012 17:35

She's a bit of a blimper though Grin

Hullygully · 11/05/2012 18:01

Nonsense, she is a little upholstered as befits a woman of her years.

SpeckleDust · 11/05/2012 18:08

I watched an interview on tv yesterday (or the day before?) where a massively overweight larger lady was campaigning to have the word 'obese' removed from the English language. And at the very least stop Drs mentioning the word 'obese' during appointments with fat chubby people as it was so offensive to them.

Fucking ridiculous.

Hullygully · 11/05/2012 18:09

We are all in denial. Just as we are about wine and fags etc.

Be warned - when you reach late 50s you are really in trouble. Hormones or something make you put weight even on your arms, I can't believe it, you have to seriously cut how much you eat. Everyone my age has this weight gain problem plus you need to eat less food anyway.

bibbitybobbitybunny · 11/05/2012 19:10

I have found that to be the case in my late 40s Mayisout.

How I laugh at my early 40s friends who still have a waist. Little do they know ...

But, yes, fat is fat and why pussyfoot around it?
