..to avoid being near a male when at the gym

i go 2/3 times a week and whenever i go on something that is by a male (never by choice) more often than not they stink. I don't like breathing in the smell of a stranger/male and doing a workout is torture enough without having to endure their stench. It is for this reason that i always try and go on something that is as far away as possible from another training male. Sometimes you can tell the ones who are going to smell before they have come close and often i am right. I think that some men think this turns 'the ladies' on especially the ones who work out in the 'mens room' (weights) as i call it. I always have a bath before i go. Most people there don't smell but some men, always the same ones, stink, i don't think they have deodorant on, it has that raw smell about it.....

Sorry cheese I've been taken over seriously on here today too!

Delighted to hear that, I'm a bit preachy about the benefits of weights m always surprised how many women avoid and do think it's a men's thing.

Go you!

Agree with sidge and anyfucker.

Quite frankly you deserve it. For being mug enough for paying for a gym membership that has no equipment you couldn't replicate yourself without the monthly fee and rather unpleasant cohorts.

( Swimming pool and sauna accepted )

When I go to the gym I sweat buckets. Perhaps I'm really a man. Although I do mop up afterwards, so maybe not.

Hate smelly blokes too, but I suspect it is unwashed gym kit that has been festering a while causing the problem. Fresh sweat doesn't really smell.

How about mentioning it to them? You might scare them off permanently, and wouldn't that be a bonus Grin

If you haven't got one of your own, borrow a friends teenager bedroom then go to the mens gym for a bit of fresh air. Our gyms changing room smells of flange.

YABU Not all men smell, Well they might by the end of a gym session as do women that's why there are showers in the changing rooms,

Latara · 12/05/2012 02:38

YABU. I go to the gym just to look at the men sorry I mean work out & just happen to see men walk past.. In my defence the men at my gym wear deodorant & blatantly check out all the women so in the name of feminism i am just being equal to men. But in a non-sweaty ladylike discreet way obviously.

there's smells and there are smells....i HATE that really strong bo smell, smells like there are layers of it (owner rarely washes). dh's father has really bad bo although he has a shower every day but doesn't believe in deodorant. i seem to get more bo since i have been peri meno' so i do my best to keep it at bay. i like watching the men at the gym too. i live in essex, towie territory, you should see some of the blokes that come in, not my type at all but certainly makes interesting viewing, they are SERIOUSLY vain, posing in the mirrors, actually most of that type do that more than actually work out with the weights :) percy - that's really funny. waitrose loo used to stink of piss, that was before they had it done up :D mum - i know that not all men smell, but the ones that do can SERIOUSLY stink out the whole gym and make it really hard to workout
