to think that 3 year old logic makes no sense

If I tell DS "Don't do that, you'll break it!" he always replies "But look, I didn't - it's fine!" - and then continues to do it and seems to have no concept of the fact that he might break it in the future, because it didn't break the first time.

However, if he asks a question and the answer is "No", he will keep on asking it eleventymillion times in the hope that the answer might have changed.

AAAARGH. Please tell me your toddlers are all the same. Although I would also welcome any tips on getting them to accept the damn answer to the question the first time. I don't give in, BTW, so it's not that.

"The red tap is hot"

"The blue tap is cold"
Yes darling
"The blue milk is cold"
Yes darling
"but the red milk is not hot"
See what you're doing there, but no, the red milk is not hot

My favourite piece of toddler logic I use on my DS is "give that to me now or I will take it from you". They never fail to hand it back Grin

My 4 and 6 year old are the same. Perhaps they have the logical reasoning of 3 year olds...

DD is 3.5 and her logic astounds me sometimes, a few of her pearls of wisdom:

Milk comes from cows, so that's what cows taste like. (Not beef then? Hmm)

It is perfectly acceptable not to brush your teeth before bed, if you haven't eaten sweets, when I tell her she has to brush them anyway, she says 'but you said sweets rot my teeth, I didn't eat any today, so they are not rotted'

She can't put her head under the water in her swimming lessons like the teacher asks, because she is not a mermaid 'Look Mum, see my legs?'

She can't tidy up her toys unless someone helps her, me: 'You got them out all by yourslef though didn't you?' DD 'Yes, but putting them away is boring, you need to make me do it'.

Sounds like ds.
Eat you dinner.
But I don't want whatever.
Tough.
I want to eat bread and hot milk.
No. You have to eat things as well as bread and milk.
But there's bread and milk in the fridge!

Eventually I say you are not a hedgehog.
Yes I am!

He has seriously argued that black is white before...
