To book a holiday when I might have an interview?

I want to go on holiday.I work bloody hard and I have found one for a week during 3 weeks off from work.

A few weeks ago I applied for a job, which I am very interested in. It's basically my dream job. They said interviews are week commencing 28th May.

If I booked said holiday, I would return early evening on 28th May.

Should I go ahead and book it, and then IF I get an interview phone them and tell them I can make it on 29th/30th/31st but not 28th?

I assume by saying week commencing, the interviews will be running for more than one day? Ahhh, help!

Sounds fine to me

I'm sure the other applicants would need to book the day off work anyway so will be much the same as you.

Of course it's fine to do what you're planning.

Obv. do your interview prep in advance, though, and good luck!

So even though I get back on the 28th, and I may well be offered an interview on the 28th, I should still book?

What happens if they say "nahh, we are only interviewing on 28th"?

They won't do that, I'm sure. It's for a rotational programme and I know they employ a few people for it every year, so it would have to be more than one day, surely? OH GOD.

Egypt or Surrey.

There should be no choice...

It's more than likely they will be Interviewing for just one day that week when the interview panel can get together - very unlikely you would be able to reschedule if you can't make it.

Can you call the HR dept and ask them what day they've pencilled in? Then you could book and enjoy - or not....

I don't want to add a depressing note but if you applied a few weeks ago might you not expect to have heard if you'd been shortlisted by now?

I don't think not hearing yet is necessarily a bad sign - the people I interview in my line of work often wait for several weeks to know if we want to interview them - if that's the case, the OP will know as it will have been in the application pack....
