On the back of the photographs on the wall, AIBU to ask about hanging baskets?

The reason is this, I can't decide whether my hanging basket is common or chavvy or classy.
Having had a look at it this morning, I know which word I'd use.

Ooh, the boring-green-football ones? Dull dull dull. Tasteful, but SOOOO boring. Give me lots of colour, regardless of wether it "co-ordinates" or is "stylish" or not.

I want to have strawberries in a birdcage as a hanging basket, but DH thinks birdcages are scary :o

Urban. I saw a purple one recently. I really liked it. Maybe I should have held out for one of those rather than go down the municipal park route?

One of my favourite photos from our wedding is one of me and DH, the day before, outside our front door where we had a huge hanging basket full of pansies. I love hanging baskets and we have one now outside this house, partly as there is a bracket there and I think it looks rubbish empty, but also because it brightens the house up and makes it welcoming. Stuff anyone who thinks otherwise!!!

NameChangeaGoGo · 09/05/2012 12:19

Do you like it? If you do then that is all that matters.

Rindercella · 09/05/2012 12:19

It doesn't really matter does it? If you like something, have it. Be your own person rather than a follower of the masses Grin

x-post with aGoGo.

I like hanging baskets, although I can't seem to keep their contents alive. But I think those huge overfilled ones that are usually to be found hanging on the front of pubs look ridiculous. They look like they could pull the front of the building down.

happybubblebrain · 09/05/2012 12:26

As long as the basket isn't plastic they look nice.

bumperella · 09/05/2012 12:27

ripsisphere, I must be thinking of a different type to you...am now intrigued by yr post!

ripsishere · 09/05/2012 12:29

To add to it, I've had a look at the tags that came on the trays. It seems I am going to have a red white and blue basket.
I am the least patriotic person in our town I think.
Rindrers - that the point, I don't know if I like it. I suppose the fact that I am about it indicates indifference.

I like them. However did realise a couple of years ago that mine looked abit "municipal" with their many colours. Since I have tried either just two colours of flower or a basket with one colour but varying shades. If I say so myself they look classy! That said I would not consider anyone's baskets to be naff as I'd think they had chosen what they liked. Left to mums net we would all be sat in Japanese style tasteful gardens with interesting rocks and grasses or whatever was deemed to be on trend....

trixie123 · 09/05/2012 14:48

just got some to brighten up our garden which is a newbuild so just plain lawn. Its not huge so I want to keep the ground space for the kids to play on, not flowerbeds. Pots may come later to clutter up the patio!
