Dc's school are suppossed to open doors at 08.55 and close at 9.00 am. However, so far this year their timekeeping has been appalling. They never seem to open by 8.55 and some days its past nine when they open. It's a nightmare for working parents.
AIBu to expect them to open on time most of the time.

They should open on time, however is there no-one that you could leave your child with, so that you can leave.

I am a bit amazed at the lack of help that i hear across MN. It's something that we do happily for each other, in my region.

How old are your DCs?

york67 · 08/05/2012 16:24

5 and 7. Yes, I could leave them with another parent and occassionally do this. However, I don't like to make a habit of this.

YANBU, it is annoying and if you turned up late every day they would have a problem.

Fimbo · 08/05/2012 16:41

We get this at the end of the day too. Ds's year has 2 classes in it. You can guarantee that the opposite class to his is out anything up to 10 minutes before his comes out. I shouldn't be cynical but ds's teacher is manically tidy to the point of ocd and therefore the desks etc all need to be neat and tidy whereas the other teacher is messy and is not so bothered. (I know this as I used to work there). It's a nightmare as you are supposed to keep dentist and doctors apps to after school. Sometimes there is not a big window of time to get there. Grrrr.

YANBU. Its annoying.

BBQJuly · 08/05/2012 17:48

YANBU to expect punctuality, but YABU to think it's only working parents who are affected.

happyfeet11 · 08/05/2012 18:50

No of course SAHM's are affected too. In fact I am a SAHM virtually. However, I do feel working parents are affected to a greater degree.
