So dd1 and dd2 are revising for A levels and GCSEs respectively, ds went out with friends and dh was working from home.

Me? I did 4 loads of washing, cleaned 2 bathrooms, moved the heavy furniture to vacuum hehind and steam cleaned the walls in the kitchen. And a bit more cleaning and cooking for the week. Go me. Anyone had even more fun?

Oh yes, and cried at the bit of Mamma Mia I saw with dd3, because I wan't to be Donna and I'm not.

Think I need wine.

Plan: work am ( from home) then sort out airing cupboard.

Reality: worked for longer than I should/was paid for, then a snooze then wine wine and more wine.

While I'm annoyed cupboard still needs sorting, I'm sure another glass of wine will cure that Grin

BF came round, I dyed his beard for him, he took my son out on his motorbike while I put washing out. Then we went to a NT property and built a den out of wood. Called at a pub on way home for food then feet up on sofa and a cuddle with my 3 week old grandaughter. Lovely day

Went to Ikea, yes I know its a mad thing to do on a bank holiday, and the play room where you can leave the kids was full so we had to drag them round with us too but I don't care as I'm just so excited that my new kitchen is coming this week!

Then came home and just had to do veg on the sofa to get over the stress of it all.

met up some local mums for lunch then went round the shops.
not done anything sat or sun just housework and playing with kids
dh is away at the moment otherwise would have done a day out, but did not really fancy it without him

Set off to go to local, beautiful Victorian park, to meet friends so all the kids can play, cycle, tire themselves out. Discover that some fucking bastard has nicked the driver's side windscreen wiper. Spend 10 minutes in the rain trying to gently prise off the passenger wiper to transfer over, before using brute force. (I know why only one was nicked.) Drive to Halfords whilst having a conversation with 4yo DS about why some people steal our stuff and how naughty that is. Buy and fit new wiper. Drive to park. Drive home and have similar conversation about why some people steal.

I predict a lot of these conversations in the future.

I went and picked dd2 up from a sleepover, filled up with diesal then came home and picked up dd1 and dd3 and we went for a walk in the woods followed by Macdonalds and a lazy afternoon. Felt a bit down really because dh is in Korea for work for two weeks and whilst I'll be fine tomorrow when I'm at work I've found the long weekend tough going.

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 07/05/2012 22:05

I worked, (Although got time and a half BH premium) then hurried home so DH could get to work for 6pm.

Then watched BGT from last night with a cup of tea. I know what you are thinking.

My life is such a roller coaster. Grin Wink

Tried to fix dishwasher.
Failed.
Sad

DH and I were bad parents and stayed in bed til almost noon. Then I had a leisurely coffee and shower, went grocery shopping with DD1-12 while DH did the ironing and DD2-10 worked on her school art project. We then came home, unpacked groceries and had lunch. Then my friend came over for a cuppa with her two DC and we sat and chatted for a couple of hours. Then we relaxed for a while and I made dinner. Ate and am sitting here chilling getting ready for work tomorrow.

O the snippets of other people's lives.....

Made some cheese scones this morning "with" DS, then my lovely friend picked us up and drove us to the Lost Gardens of Hooligan and magicked us free entry, where we spent a merry 3 hours sprinting after DS, and laughing at him chasing after crows trying to feed them uneaten bits of cheese scone.

Allegrogirl, I don't normally clean, just was stuck for something to do that was quiet and didn't get me wet!

A levels and GCSEs cause guilt - need to stay in and provide tea, homemade cakes and sympathy!

Work, but for time & a half.

AKMD · 07/05/2012 22:24

We went camping. It was freezing cold but somehow I still ended up with a sunburned nose :( I have made a Bad Parent discovery that DS watches far too much Peppa Pig. He spent the entire weekend announcing that Daddy Pig was going to sleep outside, that he (George) was going to collect sticks for the fire... and wailing loudly whenever we left the campsite because he wanted to go caaaaaaamping!

Apart from that, it was fun :)

YABU by the way. Mind your own business, poke nose!

This morning made pancakes for breakfast (not a typical breakfast) then took dogs and children with their bikes for long wet walk locally (new Forest). On return home children stripped off and changed (muddy) and I cleaned off the filthy dogs. We all then went to local pub for lunch. Afterwards (2.30 pm ish by this stage) left dc to own devices whilst I did a tonne of housework and dh caught up with paperwork. Kids were pestered into doing piano and guitar practice....then it was tea, movie and bed (for them).

So not much high octane excitement

DH worked Thursday night, DS slept for about 4 hours, I worked Friday (24 hour shift) and vomited endlessly (8 weeks pg).

My lovely parents & sis arrived on Sat, took one look at me & DH and sent us to bed while they took DS far away.

DH worked 24 hour shift on Sunday, but from home. I managed to keep one meal down.

I've been at work since 9am, finishing 9am tomorrow. PILs have been trying to help DH, but mostly getting on his nerves leaving "creeping chaos" at home (god knows what state the house will be in tomorrow).

Not our best weekend.

Northernlurker · 07/05/2012 23:40

Antidote - do you think you maybe should be signed off sick for a couple of weeks? Doing very long shifts with hideous morning sickness like that is absolutely awful. I know when I was expecting dd3 I should have been signed off but I soldiered on because it seemed so feeble to be signed off with morning sickness. I look back now and think I was utterly crazy!

brighthair · 07/05/2012 23:43

I worked this weekend. Today I went to the horses, sat in traffic, did some cleaning then went to a bootcamp session

Antidote · 08/05/2012 16:23

northern I am considering it. Luckily I think I only have 2 more overnight shifts this month.

Northernlurker · 08/05/2012 21:29

When you tell work you're pg they should risk assess you and the advisability of night shifts should be established as part of that.
