i mean we are in may and usually the sun is cracking the flags...

i am tired of getting up every morning (freezing) and rummaging through my winter clothes for something to wear...i mean come on ....i know there is nothing we can do about it except move to hot climate country

but i am fed up now

and for all of you with smaller dc it must be a nightmare

AIBU...

I agree it is getting very boring to still be flicking the heating on first thing and fed up with going in to get the Boy up and his room is icy cold. I don't want really hot. About 17-20 degrees warm late spring temps would be absolutely lovely.

catgirl1976 · 06/05/2012 09:06

YANBU

I am about to put the heating on. In May :(

FermezLaBouche · 06/05/2012 09:06

Dunno what you're complaining about - I've got a load of washing on the line! :D
Tis fairly rubbish at the moment though. I need to sort out my borders for planting and since all this rain the weeds are now about 4 feet high :(

doormat · 06/05/2012 09:10

i am complaining because i want a bit of warmth and sunshine...surely it isnt too much to ask in may...

Yes- I have triffid size thistles and nettles and dandelions- super huge ones. The sun is shining here (and burnt the frost off the grass!)- its glorious and ideal for gardening- but NOT warm. As a gardener I am happy. I want more rain. I have used the hosepipe far too much in the last year. Rain at night though- and sun by day.
Make the most of today as tomorrow is wind and rain....

catgirl1976 · 06/05/2012 09:14

It is freezing here AND I have the giant weeds.

I can pay a man to come and make those go away but I cannot afford to pay a man to whisk me off somewhere hot :(

I am therefore not bothered about the weeds but very bothered about the rubbish weather. :(

ErikNorseman · 06/05/2012 09:14

YABU only because we really do need the rain.

doormat · 06/05/2012 09:33

erik where i live it has been raining all week...yesterday wasnt so bad as it was drizzly...today it is dry but absolutely baltic out there

I can put up with rain, it's the cold that wears me down. 9.6 degrees outside yesterday mid-afternoon. 9.6 in May!

squeakytoy · 06/05/2012 11:08

I just looked at the forecast... rain for the next week, and cold.

I just want to hibernate... :(

habbibu · 06/05/2012 11:09

Come to east Scotland - bright sunshine here!

LadyBeagleEyes · 06/05/2012 11:13

We've just had a few days of glorious sunshine and temperatures of 19 degrees here in the Highlands.
But now it's freezing again with fresh snow on the hills, so back to my winter coat.
The weather this year is mad.

imnotmymum · 06/05/2012 11:15

why would it be a nightmare for people with small children ?? lovely day here though

MsKittyFane · 06/05/2012 13:14

Heating's on here too. Brrrrrr!!

Alambil · 06/05/2012 13:19

I still can't quite get my head around the state of "drought" we're in.

When I lived in Uganda, we had drought - as far as I can see, England is not quite a barren, dusty land

throckenholt · 06/05/2012 16:11

The drought is because the reservoirs (in the south) and the ground water are much lower than normal for this time of year following two dry winters (which is when they fill up).

I am finding it is a great time for weeding - they are growing like mad, but very easy to dig up - as long as you wrap up in winter layers and keep moving you can get a lot done.

But I am getting depressed by the gloom - it is just so dull and cold. I need some sun and warmth (which is a very rare thing for me to say - I hate the heatwaves). I would love just a normal May day.

sabbby82 · 06/05/2012 16:13

Doormat I totes agree... This freaking weather is so boring... cold and constantly raining! I grew up in the USA and I daily question myself why I live here, and my brother (whose still lives there) shows off tan lines :(
Need some hot sunny weather please!!!!

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 06/05/2012 16:24

Yanbu it's miserable. I'm stuck at home with a ds with the pox, it would be a lot better if I could turf him out in to the garden!

Downandoutnumbered · 06/05/2012 19:50

YANBU. Still got the electric blanket going some nights here, and the heating's coming on every morning. DS is 21 months, it's grim. We're running out of ideas for things to do with him.

Meglet · 06/05/2012 19:55

I find it a nightmare with small children.

Everyone says, just wrap up and go for a walk. Even in layers and fleeces I freeze to death walking at toddler speed. Drives me mental and I get miserable. Then they somehow get water in their wellies and I have to diffuse meltdowns, a crap experience for all of us.

My heating is on all day (6am - 11pm) just to dry clothes, I only turned it off at night last week, the gas bill has never been so high in the spring.

We'd better have a stonking heatwave this summer to make up for it. I only do heat and sunshine.

doughnutty · 06/05/2012 20:05

Sleety freezing rain around midday today, just south of Edinburgh.

Was beautiful, blue sky before and after, though very cold.

Global warming people! Total misnomer for our part of the world, but it is what it is.

doormat · 06/05/2012 20:49

so glad it is not just me, heating has been on most of day and it is now drizzly xxx

I could cope with the rain if we had some brilliant bursts of sunshine in-between showers. HOwever, it feels as though it has been nothing but grey & gloomy for an entire month and I find it very depressing :(

My garden is looking gorgeous - all the tulips and alpines have come into bloom but even their bright, gaudy colours can't compete with the gloom.

Desperately feeling the need for sunshine on my skin - even if I still need to layer up.
