He has been singing very loudly for about half an hour, which is bad enough, but he is singing:

Oh happy days,
Oooh happy days,
When Jesus was,
When Jesus was,
When Jesus was,
He chased my sins away.

Over and over again... Angry Hmm Angry

This has really tickled me.

Ds is asking if I'm laughing at his film.

Grin

Are you sure he's not just a comic genius, Bumsy?

AdoraBell · 04/05/2012 14:03

I love it when someone does this kind of thing, because I'm especially stubborn so if I don't want to be wound up I won't be. At least outwardly, which makes my OH give up really quickly because he's not getting a reaction

AdoraBell · 04/05/2012 14:05

dogeared

Now that is an image to hang to

Ilovedaintynuts · 04/05/2012 14:07

When I was 14 I locked my sister in the wardrobe and sat outside singing Kumbaya repeatedly until she cried. I was nice like that.

DorothyGherkins · 04/05/2012 14:10

Come on, lets all clap and sway away with Bumsy!

Oh happy day!!

BumsyClugger · 04/05/2012 14:16

Definitely not a comic genius, nor any other type of genius. The songs make sense to him, those ARE THE WORDS.

He's now singing along to Michael Jackson, wrong words, very heartfelt - but he is doing the washing up so I will let him off this time... Wink

of course, that's your solution, say he can sing, but only when he's doing useful jobs. Grin

DS3 used to sing "Yo ho, yo ho, the pirate's after me" over and over and over, but he was 4 and it was cute.

XH, who was considerably older and not nearly so cute, used to sing a bit of the Toreador song from Carmen, and always got one note flat. Always the same note. I'm pretty sure he did it on purpose.

Note the "X".

I love that video of The Cow Kicked Nelly. Wonder how many hits it can get from MN? Grin

crowface · 04/05/2012 17:03

My mom get the words tonTina Turner Simply the Best wrong. Instead of Stuck on your heart she sings stuck on your knee. Now there's a video I'd like to see.

Hubby used to have this thing about blutac were he'd stick it to his face somewhere then try and get me to look at him. Cue fake noses, warts, eyebrow etc when trying to watch a tv drama Best one was the fake glasses he created in Go Outdoors. Not sure what my parents made of it though.

YANBU. I have this problem with DH as well.

Take, for e.g. the simplest of little ditties - the them tune to Gaspard and Lisa (children's show about French rabbits, don't know if you have it or which channel it would be on) - the eponymous title song is mis-sung by DH as "Ah Mona Lisa, ah Mona Lisa, ah Mona Lisa". HOW FUCKING HARD IS IT??? And he does this with pretty much every fucking song he sings.

He also has a foul habit of starting to sing something in a quite reasonable singing voice but then distorting it worse and worse with every line until the stabby feelings come on me again. I heard a song on the radio today - Matchbox 20, Push. The lead singer's voice is one that also incites my stabby-kill feelings - and that's how DH sings. ARGHHHH!!!

Thumbwitch · 04/05/2012 17:11

But that's not how The Cow Kicked Nelly goes!!

It goes -

The cow kicked Nelly in the belly in the barn
The cow kicked Nelly in the belly in the barn
The old man said it wouldn't do her any harm
so we all kicked Nelly in the belly in the barn!

That's what we learnt at school anyway...
