blackberry and teen

Gosh I am sooooooo fed up with my son forever texting on
his blackberry. My Mum and Dad brought it for him and pay the monthly fee to keep it running for him. (which I am grateful for as am single Mum). However he recently got it up graded to a blackberry. I think with these you can message people as much as you like and it doesn't cost anything if the person has a blackberry too.
He is driving me crazy. I am trying to have a conversation with him regarding taking him to London at the weekend and it is like talking to a brick wall.
Most conversations end with me yelling and taking the phone off him frightening to give it back to my Mum and Dad. Any ideas what would you do?

I calmly explain to my ds that if he's having a conversation with me, his phone stays in his pocket, as it does at the meal table, and lots of other places (Church, theatre, school, meetings, etc.,etc.). It will not self destruct if it is not answered for a few minutes, or even an hour.

He twitches a bit, but realises I am right Wink

Watching with interest.

No answers sorry

I'm with back for good. And if he doesn't respond to that I would be locking it away and giving it to him for an hour each evening until he learnt some manners!

thanks guys I am feeling abit more chilled now ... I have just told him that he can message his girlfriend to say that he wont be messaging any more tonight. Also that it is rude, and when he has learnt some manners I will think about returning it.

Oh yes. Yes yes yes.

We have rules. No texting when I am talking to you. No texting at the table. Phone in school bag in the hall when you go to bed. He is permanently attached to the bloody thing. I thought it was supposed to be only girls that did this!

I remember going through this phase and my mum threatening to take me to "texters anon"

I shit my pants.

TheSinglePringleWillicopters · 03/05/2012 21:30

My brother is the same! Every 2 mins there's a beep and then him giggling. My mum has had to tell him to leave it downstairs when he goes to bed as she couldn't cope with the constant beeping and he was staying up on it til early hours then not getting up for school

Yes yes instil some rules. My DP does all this and he is 35, get him sorted when he is young!
