our ofsted report has been made available by the school today and have been put on special measures

a lot of the parents are up in arms and complaining they dont want their dcs attending a school thats failing

we knew it was going down hill, and had been for a while

i see this as a positive step forward, with the school being accountable for its actions and being supported to improve,or am i missing something spectacular?

YANBU. If things are bad then this label won't make them worse - it's a way of highlighting the problems so that change can be made for the better.

YANBU

It's a call to arms, things will get better - if your child is there for long enough to benefit from the improvements

WorraLiberty · 03/05/2012 17:32

YANBU if it's failing anyway.

On the other hand, most of the schools in London who haven't come out of special measures within a very short time, have been forced to become Academies by the LA.

That's not always a bad thing either if it improves the quality of teaching.

YANBU. It hasn't changed overnight - the school is of the same standard today as it was yesterday. All that's changed is it's been called out as a school that needs attention and resources, and (if it gets what it needs) it will improve. Far, far better than bumbling along at the bottom of 'acceptable' for another 5 years, IMHO.

My DS's school has a bad attendence record, allowances are made for the RAF, Traveller and families form other countries but the record is still bad. I was told by the head they are nearly in special measures... I wonder if they were it would give families a kick up the backside

our school also has issues with attendance
my dcs have been hit by a stream bugs that have givent ehm fevers in the first few days and ive all but been hunded for having them at home
ds had a bad chest last week that required OOD visit and then see gp 3 days later.i had provide proof to the school that he was actually at the doctorsShockand was unfit for school, which i felt was maybe a touch OTT but i can see now we have been told we are on special measures that they are trying
