Over the next four weeks DD has been invited to four birthday parties all on a Sunday morning at 10am. Sunday is our only lie in / lazy day. I usually do school run 3-4 days a week and take DD to ballet for 9am on a Saturday. DP does work full time and is usually away part of the week and I only do part time so I don't mind this. Normally birthday parties are my job which I don't mind but this is going too far. AIBU to tell dp he's doing at least 2 of them.

I'm 6 months pregnant and knackered and I fear its not going to get any better

YANBU

Birthday parties are a hell pleasure that should be shared.

gafhyb · 02/05/2012 20:48

She doesn't have to go ......

DH takes DS to all the birthday parties. We have a similar set up to you but DH often works a weekend day too

I'm not sure why you have to tell him and I'm not sure why it's your job.

WorraLiberty · 02/05/2012 20:50

YABU to tell him to take her if you said she could accept the invitation.

Perhaps it's a better idea to tell him you've accepted more invites than you actually wanted to on behalf of your DD and then ask him if he will take her.

YADNBU.

Birthday parties became DH's domain once I realised that, when I go, I'm expected to make boring small talk with the other mums, yet when he goes, he gets himself a bacon butty and a coffee and enjoys a relatively stress-free couple of hours with his book!

CMOTDibbler · 02/05/2012 20:51

yanbu - on 2 weeks he gets an extra big lie in, on the others you do. Parties should be equally endured shared

juneau · 02/05/2012 21:01

Um ... you could say no to some of them!

Fresh01 · 02/05/2012 21:25

Can you car share to some of them? My DD1 is 6 and for each party a different mum/dad will take a few there and a different one will do the home run? Depends on the age of your DD and if you leave her at friends parties yet.

In answer to your question though you and your DH should share the party runs.
