when parents sit their little darlings in the back of the shopping trolley with their shoes on. I am going to put my food in that trolley and I don't want all the crap off the bottom of their shoes all over it. If they want to sit in the trolley why can't they use the seat provided?

Here, my very first Biscuit!
(give it a wash before you eat it Wink)

DublinMammy · 02/05/2012 17:15

Follow them and spritz them with an antibacterial misting thing??? Dirty habit - would they put their shoes in your fridge? YANBU.

ChitChatFlyingby · 02/05/2012 17:17

YABU - I have 2 children, it is easier for me and everyone else if occasionally one of them sits in the trolley! I'd be more concerned about the leaks from the cleaning products if I were you.....!!!!!

Besides, pretty much everything comes prepackaged or can be packaged, can't it?!

Sirzy · 02/05/2012 17:18

I hate seeing it but more because it's not safe and - special needs allowing - if a child is to big for the seat in the trolley they are big enough to walk around.

That said, if it's see them sat in the trolley or see them running around as if asda is a playground then stick them in the trolley!

hathorkicksass · 02/05/2012 17:19

Aren't your groceries packaged?

wickedestsminthewest · 02/05/2012 17:19

The trolleys are sat outside in the rain and snow and have products leaking int hem all the time. They are also made of a minging smelling type of metal that i wouldn't put my tongue on whether a childs shoe had been on it or not.

Lucky for me I am not hung up on cleanliness of food, nor is my mother and my sisters, brother and I are well know for our strong stomachs so it's never done us any harm.

if youre worried about shoes in trollies there is a whole lot more you need to be worried about too...

RuleBritannia · 02/05/2012 17:20

Don't most supermarkets, if not every one, have notices asking customers not to put their children in the food section of the trolleys?

I suspect that parents put their children in the trolleys because they can't be bothered to control them if they are outside the trolleys. In other words, they have not taught their children how to behave when they are out somewhere so they have to contain them!

hathorkicksass · 02/05/2012 17:21

Rats probably run all over the trolleys at night and piss and shit over them. Or cats. Or mice. Or cats chasing mice.

pjmama · 02/05/2012 17:22

"I suspect that parents put their children in the trolleys because they can't be bothered to control them if they are outside the trolleys. In other words, they have not taught their children how to behave when they are out somewhere so they have to contain them!"

That's hilarious!

hathorkicksass · 02/05/2012 17:24

RuleBritannia - how old are your children? And how many do you have?

LoveHandles88 · 02/05/2012 17:24

I'd rather leave my dc at home to be honest. I hate having to take dc shopping. So much easier to whizz round on my own and get someone to watch dc for an hour.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 02/05/2012 17:25

Have you ever seen the back warehouse of a supermarket I'm guessing not but even the dirtiest of shoes are cleaner!

3littlefrogs · 02/05/2012 17:27

Yes - I would be far more worried about the dried rat urine on the tins and jars that have been stored in the warehouse. I always rinse tins before opening them.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/05/2012 17:28

I put my 12 yo DS in the trolley to hold DHs beer bottles upright.
If they get knocked over, the beer goes fizzy when he opens it.And we can't have that, can we?

Actually I don't like seeing children in trolleys either. But c'est la vie Hmm

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/05/2012 17:29

can I get dried rats in Sainsburys 3liitlefrogs ?

usualsuspect · 02/05/2012 17:29

YABU

RuleBritannia · 02/05/2012 17:30

hathorkicksass

I don't take my two children to the supermarket any more. If I were to put just one into the trolley, there would be no room for any shopping at all.

Petsinmypudenda · 02/05/2012 17:30

I do it with my 19 month old.

Everything is packaged and washed and as the trolleys are left out side I'm guessing they are dirty anyway!

gingysmummy · 02/05/2012 17:30

what about the dirty folk that don't wash there hands after being to the toilet then hold the handle of the trolley or even worse touch the loose fruit and veg. if you thought like that you wouldn't do anything in life yabu

Sirzy · 02/05/2012 17:31

Petsin- why not use the proper seat at 19 months?

Having seen a child lean over the side of the trolley last week and only just being caught by a passing shopper before it tipped made me dislike it even more!

Petsinmypudenda · 02/05/2012 17:33

He doesn't like the proper one.

Petsinmypudenda · 02/05/2012 17:35

whoops pressed post prematurely

he cant lean over as he is to little so that doesn't worry me. he just sits and guards the baguettes

Sirzy · 02/05/2012 17:35

Your nicer than me then. Ds doesn't like it, my answer is tough. The tantrum doesn't last long!

TheSkiingGardener · 02/05/2012 17:35

Totally agree , but because it's lazy and unsafe, trolleys are filthy things anyway.
