they irritate me and make me feel stabby.

particularly if said dangly thing is covered with cartoon characters.

just clip it onto a pocket of something, stop waving it and jingling it on your cleavage and stuff.

I have a zoomy pocket clip one too. Hate ones round your neck.

Looks Crap.

And I always put it in my pocket if I go off site. I don't want anyone knowing my name rank and number without good cause.

LithaR · 02/05/2012 22:14

i have one for my disabled bus pass and college pass card due to having a poor memory.

Before getting it I'd go through so many bus passes due to losing them.

It saves me from a lot of distress from losing them so yabu.

HalfSpamHalfBrisket · 02/05/2012 22:14

I'm a teacher and I rebel against ID lanyards (we are a small school - we know everyone). It's in a bag or possibly under a pile of paper somewhere.

However, as I am always loosing stuff, I do have a lanyard that my house and car cars and memory stick are on. This must bloody annoy people as it jangles all the time mwah ha ha.

HalfSpamHalfBrisket · 02/05/2012 22:15

loosing losing

PorkyandBess · 02/05/2012 22:17

We are supposed to wear ours at all times, the doors don't open without them.

I look like Karl Malden in my photo, so it tends to live in a drawer.

oldsilver · 02/05/2012 22:23

Years ago in a high security environment I worked out we HAD to wear danglies ... some people forgot to take them off when they got in their cars to drive off ... after several incidences of them getting caught in steering wheels, they then came with optional clippy things.

I have a red dangly now. We have to have them visible - I don't tend to have pockets on my tops and if I clip it to my waist it is covered by my tops. I have majorly shortened mine as it didn't used to hang right off my boobage. We also have whistles attached to ours - get us Grin

MaureenMLove · 02/05/2012 22:23

My dangly thing gets in the way when I go to the toilet. I have to sling it over my shoulder....

BodaciousTatas · 02/05/2012 22:26

Grin at Paul Malden.

My pic is one of those lasered on thingies and yes my nose looks huge and my face strangely orange.

BodaciousTatas · 02/05/2012 22:26

Karl Malden (wine)

MousyMouse · 02/05/2012 22:29

I have a proper essex tan on my photo.

janji · 02/05/2012 22:34

Our new boss introduced them within a week of her appointment and insists upon all staff wearing the drafted thing at all times and it being in full view! Failure to do so results in public telling off and a rise in her already unpleasant and bullying behaviour! Wouldn't mind but as a teacher the number of times I have almost strangled one if my pupils when leaning over would have the health and safety up in arms. Don't even have the option of a clip or being tucked into a pocket .

oldsilver · 02/05/2012 23:05

That is the other reason I have shortened tied a knot in the back mine janji to alleviate pupil strangulation.

Selks · 02/05/2012 23:10

Goodness me, some people get irritated about some very trivial things Grin

limitedperiodonly · 03/05/2012 10:55

It's not trivial selks.

It's what Orwell described as a boot stamping on a human face forever.

Wink
DameHermione · 03/05/2012 11:20

Yes. Limited. That is exactly what i mean.

The proles just go along with what 'they' tell them to do until suddenly one day you wake up and there is a big eye following you around and you commit a thoughtcrime and end up in room 101.

BAN THE DANGLE BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!

OP posts:
Selks · 03/05/2012 22:17

Humph. Well, some of us have no choice over whether we wear them or not.

limitedperiodonly · 04/05/2012 00:21

Get creative selks. Deface the corporate message.

As someone once said: 'The smallest show of power by the weakest person of all is the greatest thing in the world.'

I just made that one up Grin

Bunbaker · 04/05/2012 08:01

Ours aren't ID badges they are door passes. I don't know what all the fuss is about anyway.

AkhalTeke · 04/05/2012 08:05

I'm so bored of people saing that things make them feel 'stabby'.

'stabby' is starting to turn my stomach a bit now.

Sparklingbrook · 04/05/2012 08:13

Oh dear Akhal people saying they feel 'stabby' is making you feel 'stabby'. Sad

sensuallettuce · 04/05/2012 08:30

My job involves going into schools - I am supposed to wear it in the office (off school site) but I never do.

I don't mind wearing it in schools it makes sense and is reassuring when it's checked on the way in - shocking the amount of schools who don't check Hmm
