To design a housework/washing and exercise rota?

Going back to work in 5 weeks after DS2, DS1 starts school in September. Having been on maternity leave and had more free time (DS2 is an angel baby, DS1 was the devil more challenging so never got anything done when on leave with him!) I have got used to having a tidy house, fitting in runs etc.

Would I be unreasonable and a bit odd to design myself a rota? I'm the sort of person who gets great pleasure from completing lists (really must get a life!)

DH thinks I'm nuts although he also thinks the cleaning fairy really exsists!

No, not at all. I have lists and schedules for everything. I even have a lists of lists. :o

Ha.....its not just me then Blush, even more sad is that i was gonna laminate it at work (I love laminating!)

I agree with a rota and agree that it needs laminating just wanted to add you should make copies incase the first one goes missing!!

When I returned to work I timed myself to see how long each task took so I could fit them all in to an hour each a day Blush

bluerinse - i have my timings down to a fine art Blush, god i really NEED to go back to work don't I?!

Yes you do Grin

I've been back for a year now and things do go out of the window I'm afraid!

I pay the children to help out over the weekend and I have lists about lists.

I'd be interested in seeing your rota if you do it though Smile

FallenCaryatid · 01/05/2012 21:44

By all means have a rota, but include your DH on it, and DS1 can manage an age-appropriate task or two as well.
YANBU to make a rota. YABU to be the only person on it.

Kladdkaka · 01/05/2012 21:45

Mine are laminated and I have a special pen that wipes off, so I can tick things off as I go along. Blush :o

dribbleface · 01/05/2012 21:50

Fallen - don't you worry DH will have his fair share of jobs! DS1 is my own little prep chef and can now dice pepper, mushrooms etc (bless him he's only 3!)

Kladdkaka - that would make me very happy, rota and tick sheet in one!

White board pens do the trick.

Ooooh lamination!

I just got down an old book on triathlon training from back when I didn't have a 46 inch waist in the day and all my old training plans fell out, week after week of them.

Yes, make a plan! Or as DP calls all lists and charts, A Spreadsheet! Tick things off! Write in different colours!

Laminating is strangely therapeutic.

dribbleface · 01/05/2012 21:59

I have been known to write things i've already done on my work to do list, just so i can tick them off Blush

I do that at work!!

And for some strange reason I don't like to throw lists away, I have a file that I keep them all in and I can then look back at them and remind myself of tasks I have already completed Confused

Kaliani · 01/05/2012 22:17

Have you looked at flylady? She has all sorts of routines and lists, and teaches you to make a folder to put them in!

Mine are all laminated

Byecklove · 01/05/2012 22:52

Have just been thinking I needs to get me some lists going so you are very nbu.

Also, I bought a laminator a few weeks ago.

Blush

Therapeutic benefit far outweighs pound-spendage cost.
