To be annoyed by this?

I go swimming every week to the same pool.

Today for the first time I was told 'to go and have a quick shower' before entering the pool. I've never been asked this before.

Now here's where people will probably say iabu, they do have a sign up asking people to shower, not wear shoes at the poolside, not spit in the pool etc, etc. But, my issue is firstly I am a grown adult, I always shower right before swimming at home anyway to get my make up and stuff off so surely it should be ay my own discretion whether to shower or not. Secondly, what annoyed me is that I watched and saw 5 or 6 people and then a large group of school children all enter the pool after me and not one of them went near the showers or was asked to.

My other issue is that I find the lifeguards very pervy particuarly the one that told me to shower, they ogle every woman that walks in. And the changing rooms were filthy and stink of piss so I think they should be a bit more concerned with that than whether I have an extra shower.

Completely prepared to be told I am ott.

yanbu...

I can see the point at a holiday resort pool where people may be slathered in suncream which can make the water greasy, but in chlorinated swimming pool, that children (and adults I expect) piss in and spit in.. then a bit of sweat would be the least of my worries..

If everyone showers before going in the pool, they can reduce the amount of chlorine used. Or so I heard.

I live in a building that has a swimming pool and we (us and neighbours) routinely do the levels, checks etc and YABU, body lotion, hair products etc come off and if you deal with a pool's workings, it's disgusting and you'd soon learn to shower. It's good that you do and sometimes I shower in my flat first. You could just say 'I've just showered at home, thanks'.

I take my little girls almost every day and we all shower.

Can't help regarding the ogling. I'd have thought a public swimming pool wouldn't have yielded that much ogling material.

and yes, the more clag in the water (it's grease that's the problem, not spit or urine!) the more chemicals are needed

YANBU but to be honest if its that bad, i.e. filthy facilities and filthy staff I'd go for a nice walk or find another pool.

Excersize is great but not under those circumstances.

Yanbu.

I Agree everyone should be showering. BUT if they weren't telling other people to do it I'm betting the lifeguard was on a pervy dare (sorry)

Are there any other local pools?

I confess I never shower, I love the feeling of first diving into water. It's not the same if your already wet.
