Scenario in Doctors this morning:
Me: I'm here to pick up a prescription for Brian X please? (please note, DS2's name is not actually Brian but he has an obviously male name)
Receptionist: Are you Brian?
Me: No I'm his mum
R: I'm afraid I can only give the prescription to the person named on it, he will have to come in and pick it up himself.
Me: Well he is 5 years old and is currently at school and I have always picked up my children's prescriptions before
R: Well the rules have changed to stop people stealing each others prescriptions
(WTF, I can understand that could be possible in certain cases but DS2?s prescription is for liquid paraffin cream to stop dry skin, not liquid methadone!!)
I suggested, with great restraint I might add, that perhaps exceptions could be made in the case of children?s prescriptions and luckily someone who looked more senior normal overheard and handed the script over.
This can't be a common rule can it??
