to think this 'just get a job' malarkey is not actually that easy?

Just musing aloud really. I am trying to get a part-time job to supplement my freelance income (currently desk-based, 90% from home). We get CB but no other benefits (although we will qualify for WTC soon if I cant get some more income).

In my area, the jobs are either care assistant/catering/HGV or forklift truck driving. I'm 51, have no experience in any of these areas, and quite frankly I doubt I have the ability either (lack of empathy and dodgy back/no culinary skills/no spatial awareness respectively). I have a great deal of respect for people who can and do do those jobs.

'Just move to where the jobs are' is not an option - DD1 is in Y10, so GCSEs etc, plus DH's company is based here. Not to mention the costs/time involved with house sale.

So when people say 'there are jobs out there' and 'any job is better than no job' do they really mean it? Is it better to take a job you know you are probably going to be useless at? Or should you leave that job for someone who could actually do it better than you?

How do know you'll be useless unless you give one of them a go?

apply for teh jobs. if traing is available you will be trained. if you aren't experienced anough you wont be given the jobs. you ownt know unless you apply.

Apply for anything and everything. It is slim pickings out there but something is better than nothing.

Retail? Restaurant/bar work? Cleaning?
