I need to poo at least 4 times a day. Pre dc i was a once a day woman. Why has it changed? How often do you poo?

I rarely poo, stop boasting. You could be hyperthyroid. Do you have any other symptoms - are you losing weight?

Everythingsgoingtitsup · 01/05/2012 01:03

No sadly no weight loss, weight gain probably more accurate. I'm vegetarian but have been for past 20 years so doubt it's that.

I used to be a once a day woman...now it's about 3

Tis my own fault tho, I hd my gall bladder out last year but I just can't give up cheese, I love it so much!

No YANBU Grin I'm a once a day woman myself

QueenofPlaids · 01/05/2012 01:11

Four times a day is a little higher than average, but are you otherwise well? Is it normal? (e.g. Not diarrhoea, painful etc).

I have IBD so for me, 3-4 times a day is a positive delight.

Finally, I guess how long has it lasted - could it just be a food/virus thing as opposed to something longer term.

If there's a change to your bowel habits and it's bothering you I'd always suggest a visit to the docs if it's not something obviously short term.

When you gotta go you gotta go. Maybe your anus muscles are relaxed now because of child birth and you cannot hold on ?

AllYoursBabooshka · 01/05/2012 01:16

It depends on the consistency.

If you are having hard uncomfortable poos or very runny ones then yes, It's a problem. Any cramps or sudden needs to go?

Also, Do you feel the need to poo and at times nothing comes out?

Everythingsgoingtitsup · 01/05/2012 09:00

It's been like this for at least a year, post ds2. Actually, his birth was v traumatic, ending in a emcs and I think it's been like that ever since I got back to normal following that. No cramps, normal texture etc, just very frequent. Thanks for the really helpful questions everyone.

I have been a lot more frequent ever since my emcs for DC3. He is four now. So there may be a link as I was also a once a day woman before and I had not had a cs before.

Everythingsgoingtitsup · 01/05/2012 09:47

Oh lovelynewboots, that's really interesting. Perhaps it's a nerve thing?

Well you just don't know Everything, I had a general anaesthetic and after was really constipated. Then it just went the other way and I have never been the same since. So I agree that it may have interfered with the nerves that control your bowel movements. But I have never been in pain, not losing weight or any of the serious symptoms involved with suspected bowel cancer. But I have never had it checked out.
