to wonder what the hell DS1's school are playing at? Parents Evening

It's his parents evening next week, and out of the 10 teachers I requested appointments with, they can only offer me appointments with 2, his Geography and History teachers.

Frankly, it's not worth turning up just to see those teachers.

It was dd1's year 10 parent's evening this week and she'd made appointments for the teachers that she liked but not for the teachers where she was making no effort. I just muscled in to see all the teachers that I wanted to, whether I had an appointment of not by going along and nipping when they were free. Appointments over run all the time and people get caught up meaning that it becomes a free for all.

DS's indy invites parents to nominate up to a maximum of six teachers. We e-mail who we want to see and the school sends back a list of times for each teacher. Works extremely well. Have never felt the need to see all the teachers. But we do get a full written report at the end of each term and a grade sheet each half term. Communication is fantastic.

When dd went to an outstanding state comp the two big problems were behaviour and communication. The academics were fine - no probs at all. We moved her after Y8 because we just gave up with it in the end. Everything was too much trouble and too inefficient - notwithstanding the dreadful ethos in relation to standards of behaviour, boundaries and the foul language and behaviour directed at teachers.
