To be royally pissed off with my work?

I sprained my ankle on Wed, didn't go in thurs evening, but went in last night. I told them I could work on the checkouts as I'm sitting down, but covering self-scan or the customer service desk was out of the question as I'm limping and in a bit of pain.
8pm comes, 'isSam, you need to cover the desk as there's no one else to do it', I said no, and reiterated my reasons (pain & should really be resting) nope told I need to do it.

I said to my manager that I would struggle, her suggestion was 'take a chair'. Never mind that the desk is busy on a Friday night with people wanting cigarettes etc.
Woke up today and I cant even stand without agonising pain never mind drive. AIBU to call in sick? I would be put on the desk again tonight, despite what they have said and my job is on the checkouts?

If you can't stand you can't do your job.
So no you would not be unreasonable.
You went in and made them aware and they still made you work in a situation where you were standing.

TBH, you shouldn't have gone in really.By going back, you are declaring you are fit for work.
I work in NHS and that's how HR and Occy Health view it.
If I'm unable to work (usually due to my back) and I go back and say "I can't do visits, but I can do clinics" they are OK. But if I go off again, that's counted as another episode of illness.

You can't win!

Have you seen your GP?

Thanks 70. I went to A&E when I did it, I was in agony. Got X-rays etc done. I went back to work on the premise I would be sitting on a checkout, nothing else. The managers have previous for disregarding stuff like this. I'm considering asking my Union rep for advice.

What 70 said. The minute you're in, you're ready for work. Don't go in.

Yanbu. Go to your Gp and get a fit note which clearly states that you can inky work sitting down and must not be required to do any work standing/walking/moving about.

Call in sick tonight and get to the GP first thing on monday morning.

I would give your manager the alternative - either you're in and you stay seated at a checkout or you stay off sick. Her choice.
