to not believe dd1 is ill

Dd2 and I have tonsillitus, both on antibiotics and in agony etc dd1 text me from school saying she felt achey, so I went out to collect her in our pj's she gets home and claims she can barely walk because her legs keep giving way (whilst doing a very ott fake walk) she sits on the computer for a bit, eats 5 courbon biscuits and a cuppa tea then lies on the sofa looking woe is me and saying she feels sick..........................................there is nothing wrong with her just attention seeking because dd2 and I are poorly.

I have zero patience for bull shit when I'm ill.

Oh dear! Can you threaten her with the doctor tomorrow or is she too old for that brand of manipulation? Grin

YonWhaleFish · 26/04/2012 18:03

Could she be coming down with it too?

BarbarianMum · 26/04/2012 18:04

Maybe she is ill? Certainly she should be tucked up in bed resting to speed her recovery (no phone, no computer, no TV obviously).

valiumredhead · 26/04/2012 18:04

Perhaps she is going down with it too?

valiumredhead · 26/04/2012 18:05

I never understand people who say no telly when kids are ill - all I want to do is watch crap telly when I am in curled up on the sofa!

OldGreyWiffleTest · 26/04/2012 18:05

Bed now. No phone, no tv, no internet. You'll soon find out whether she is faking it or not!

Lovemygirls · 26/04/2012 18:05

She isn't complaining her throat hurts, I asked to have a look and mysteriously she couldn't get her tongue to move out of the way for me to see if there was even a hint of redness, she is known for being a drama queen Wink she is due for a jab at school tomorrow and I think she is laying the foundation to try and blag a day off school, she's 12.

Sirzy · 26/04/2012 18:07

Point out to her if she is ill she can't have the jab tomorrow which means she will have to go to the drs next week to get it done. Make it clear that no matter what she will be having it at some point!

BarbarianMum · 26/04/2012 18:08

valium if she is really coming down with tonsillitus she will feel like absolute shit and really welcome the lie down. If she is faking she will quickly realise it is not worth it.

Sympathies OP - I had tonsillitus over Easter for the first time in 20 years and had completely forgotten how awful it is - way worse than just a sore throat.

Lovemygirls · 26/04/2012 18:10

I'll let DH deal with it when he comes home I think, I don't even want to speak it hurts so much Sad

She will still have to have the jab so might as well get it over with.

DD said to me today that if you don't want to go to school you just have to tell a lie and say you are sick then you can stay at home. I gave her a telling off about that! Is she listless and tired? I can usually tell when mine are ill tbh. She probably feels left out if everyone else is at home.

minimisschief · 26/04/2012 18:13

I dont get the no tv etc rules either. as a child i was told i was too ill to enjoy myself but was still expected to do homework or revision if i was ill.

bonkers

curiositykitten · 26/04/2012 18:14

In all fairness, you're obviously not that ill either if you are MNing Wink

VodkaJelly · 26/04/2012 18:19

My 12 year old son did this on Sunday Morning, I didnt believe him or his stomach ache, relented in the afternoon and took him to the out of hours GP, a few hours later he was in surgery for appendicitus Blush

crashdoll · 26/04/2012 20:29

Lovemygirls · 27/04/2012 22:11

Well she was fine, will you look at that Wink even managed to eat the take away dh brought home.
