In Norway they gather together in their city centres (40 000 outside the court in Oslo alone) to sing the song that the killer hates.

photos at the top, scroll down a bit for the video.

The song is called Children Of The Rainbow.

Amazing. It gave me goosebumps (and brought a tear to my eye) watching that.

5318008 · 26/04/2012 17:48

oh WOW

BuntyPenfold · 26/04/2012 17:50

Thank you for that link; I really appreciate it.

OldGreyWiffleTest · 26/04/2012 18:04

Thank you for posting the link. Made me really tearful. I hope he can hear it, but I fear he is a soulless person.

BarbarianMum · 26/04/2012 18:05

YANBU - the way they have handled this whole tragedy, the dignityand lack of hysteria, is inspiring.

theboutiquemummy · 26/04/2012 18:15

`it just goes to show that people do still care what a lovely post

gafhyb · 26/04/2012 18:17

I am torn. It's a beautiful impulse. It is a good thing for those people, and as such I would never want to criticise.

But I think that the best reaction to him is to ignore him - he will not feel a message of love. The only thing that could damage him is to get the message that he is nothing special, a nobody. A thug, and not clever.

gafhyb · 26/04/2012 18:18

... but I suppose their message isn't for him ....

Earthymama · 26/04/2012 18:22

It's not for him though is it?

It is for all the people out there who reject his disgusting world view and his politics, who don't hate others for their skin colour or because they are 'different'.

Thank you for that link, wonderful.

Earthymama · 26/04/2012 18:22

oops x post Smile

LynetteScavo · 26/04/2012 18:25

The message isn't for him. It's for all those left after the tragedy, who are good people, pulling together.

LynetteScavo · 26/04/2012 18:26

It's very moving.

DeadRisingPies · 26/04/2012 18:26

Only good - reminds you that social progress is after all possible, when you feel like giving up at the tide of mean-mindedness that seems to be engulfing our own country (UK I mean).

Frontpaw · 26/04/2012 18:27

I am glad his nasty little face isn't on the bbc news home page anymore. Every time I went on there last week he was there. Apparently in Norway there was a button you could press on their equivalent news website that made the story not come up.

What's the story on his family? Are they loons too?

GreenEyesAndHam · 26/04/2012 18:29

That is so touching.

GravityDefier · 26/04/2012 18:30

Sorry, so they are singing a song he doesn't like? I am not sure I understand enough Norwegian to read the article Wink

DeadRisingPies · 26/04/2012 18:33

It's 'The Rainbow Song' celebrating diversity. Apparently everyone knows it (and evidently loves it) because it's sung in kindergarten.

Kladdkaka · 26/04/2012 18:33

Yes Gravity. The song is called Children of the Rainbow and is very well known in Norway. In his rantings/writings he repeatedly rubbishes it and says how much he hates it because it's 'Marxist propoganda'.

OP posts:
GravityDefier · 26/04/2012 18:35

Thank you for clarifying it. I had not heard of the song, must have missed that in the news. I think it's nice, it shows how much people care. Smile

Shallishanti · 26/04/2012 18:35

thank you for the link, if you wait about 4 mins her teaches them the English words, apparently t's a Pete Seeger song 'one sky above us'
I only wish that we could behave with such courage and dignity and have such faith in human rights

and he's playing a ukelele!

cornflowers · 26/04/2012 18:35

That's very poignant. The Norwegians should be proud of themselves for the dignity with which they have handled this tragedy.

donttrythisathome · 26/04/2012 18:37

How beautiful. I truly believe people here would do the same in similar circs.

gafhyb · 26/04/2012 18:42

Yes, sorry. I had misunderstood a bit.

gafhyb · 26/04/2012 18:44

donttry - so do I.

Look at the people who came out with their brooms to sweep the streets after the riots...

OTOH I would like to think that our media would be responsible, but not sure about that one
