What do you think an appropriate bonus would be?

DH regularly talks about being instrumental in big contracts (millions/tens of millions) and has also come up with the initial idea behind a few things that the company has since rolled out of a very large scale. This is part of his job though. His bonus very much depends not only on his performance but the whole group - he achieved 200% of his personal target this year but he won't get 200% of his bonus, he already knows that. Probably get just over 100% (that is not of his salary but his standard bonus). However, the company do give out incentive shares and he has been fortunate enough to have been given a few lots of these over the years which have turned out to be worth more than the annual bonus. Bonuses and initial share payouts are all within the range 10K-25K. So, to me, the bonus he recieved seems about right - 70K seems massive compared to his salary (which is in the same kind of area as DH's) - depends on the industry of course. Not that I'm any kind of expert, don't have bonuses in my line of work...
