Came home from school run and v unimpressed that car I don't recognise has parked outside my house (really small cul de sac) so had to park on main road and negotiate kids, traffic and rain- not big deals but bit narked. Have just noticed the tax disc on it expired at end of jan- should I report it?
Am I just being grumpy and mean?

Report it, there's a high correlation between cars being untaxed, being uninsured, being generally criminal and dangerous driving - get him off the road.

ABatInBunkFive · 25/04/2012 17:13

You can get insurance with no tax disk, you can't get a tax disk without insurance though.

Onethingatatime · 25/04/2012 17:15

Dilys that was my assumption, have been a day late with my tax on a couple of occasions when I bought it online but if someone isn't fussed theirs expired months ago then they prob have lax approach to other driving laws?

Oh right you you happily drive with no tax yourself. Hmm

If someone left a note on my car asking me not to park infront of their house i'd go out of my way to park there as often as possible. trooo fact Wink

op we have an unwritten rule here too. Visitors might not know when they arrive...but everyone seems to make sure that 'visitors' are made aware before the end of school/work times when the street gets busy.

Report it...wont make them move but report it anyway

Onethingatatime · 25/04/2012 17:24

Thanks thatisall- was beginning to think our street was odd! Am going to wait till later on and if it's not moved in morning will report it x

They give you 14 days to get it on, I think.

Janoschi · 25/04/2012 17:35

I think if the car is untaxed after a few months then it's likely to belong to someone who doesn't care, EXCEPT if the car has just been sold on eBay or something while declared SORN. It takes a while to sort out the change of owner etc.

If that's the case, I'd sympathise with the skulking around cul-de-sacs trying to be invisible!

scarlettsmummy2 · 25/04/2012 21:44

I think it would be mean to report them. You have no idea what their circumstances are and it is none of your business.

Well, it's really all about the motivation for reporting isn't it? Would you have reported a car that wasn't in your parking space?

Janoschi · 25/04/2012 22:20

Couldn't you just put a note on the car saying:

Hello,

Sorry to bother but you've parked outside my house and there's no room for me to park. Would you mind moving please? Also, you don't seem to have an update disc - you could get reported for that, you know.

Thanks awfully.

If he's still there or comes back and does it again, you could maybe report him.
