ward rounds? emergency on the ward? YABU

HipHopOpotomus · 25/04/2012 10:33

delayed train/bus/road traffic?
It happens to us all.

lemniscate · 25/04/2012 10:34

YANBU to be annoyed but you don't know what has happened. Consultant could have emergency on wards or a last minute urgent consult. Also crap happens to consultants too - could have been delayed in traffic or maybe had a family emergency to deal with. I hope you get seen soon.

Ilovedaintynuts · 25/04/2012 10:36

YABU
Oh get a grip.
Personal emergency, ward rounds, theatre (if a surgeon), visiting a sick/unstable patient.

The thing is, you don't know, do you?

SmethwickBelle · 25/04/2012 10:36

If its outpatients I've often had the first appointment of the day and never been seen on time. They give the same time slot to about 6 people and make you change waiting rooms three times to give the illusion of movement and then you queue to see one of three random consultants who's doors open and so you have a one in three chance of seeing the consultant you think you're seeing, 2/3 chance of it being another consultant who you will explain your medical history from scratch to! Sorry, that was all about me and my experience Grin Hope you are seen and are better soon.

stoatie · 25/04/2012 10:37

Probably seeing private patients early in the morning, especially if he does surgery or any procedures.

tightwad · 25/04/2012 11:10

Agree yabu, if its a surgeon, he could have been called in during the night, doing surgery till the wee hours of this morning.
Emergency on the ward...other thing is that these people are under a huge amount of pressure to discharge patients and free up beds, he may have been doing an early discharge round prior to clinic.
This is with a view to making beds for those going for elective surgery today..

Same goes if its a medical consultant, same pressures to free up beds.
Loads and loads of reasons why.

faintpinkline · 25/04/2012 12:49

YABU for all the reasons above but I can understand your frustation.

I had an appointment for 11.30am a couple of weeks ago and didn't get to see anyone until 1.30pm and THEN they claimed not to have my paperwork and I was asked to come back the next day when they'd found it. It was at that point I lost my temper and said I wasn't leaving until the sorted it out and there was no way I could come back the next day due to prior arrangements. Mysteriously my file materials ed in a couple of minutes Confused I was probably being unreasonable to get upset but was highly irritated after waiting 2 hours to be told that!!
